Museveni names 2000 people UPDF soldiers killed in Eastern Uganda

President Museveni on Sudany shocked the world when he named over 2000 people his soldiers have killed in Eastern Uganda since 1986.

The President made the pronouncement during celebrations to mark his 28 years of rule held in Mayuge district. The President announced that he will institute a probe into atrocities reportedly committed by his soldiers.

The President says UPDF formerly NRA suffocated over 1000 people at Mukura Railway wagon and the Bucoro Pit incident.

The Okungulo (Mukura) Railway Station massacre took place on July 11th, 1989 when the residents there were brutally suffocated to death in a train wagon after being accused by the National Resistance Army (NRA) now UPDF of president Museveni of supporting the then Uganda Peoples Army rebels.

Museveni says in March 1991 his soldiers killed, raped and imprisoned over 500 people they suspected to be rebels in Bucoro in Gulu. Museveni further says his army killed dozens of people at Kanyum for no reason.

Museveni promises to follow up all the death, unearth the culprits and hold them accountable and compensate the victims or their descendants.
