Museveni tells Police to handle drug theft cases

 The President of Uganda, Gen. Yoweri Museveni has instructed the Inspector General of Police, Maj. Gen. Kale Kayihura to investigate all cases of drug theft in the country.

The officials of the Ministry of Health and National Drug Authority in conjunction with Uganda police among others of recent have arrested several health practitioners over drug theft.

While addressing Parliament on Wednesday afternoon, Museveni directed Kayihura to handle all cases concerning drug theft.

Reports indicate that the government medical officials sell stolen drugs to private clinics and neighbouring countries like the Democratic Republic of Congo and Sudan.  

Maj. Gen. Kayihura has told journalists in Kampala today that police are ready to implement Museveni’s directives with immediate effect.
