Muslims want women only banks introduced in Uganda

Muslims in Uganda have urged the government of Uganda to start women only bank branches in different parts of the country in a bid to promote Islamic culture in the country.

Sheik Ramathan Mubajje

The Mufti of Uganda, Sheikh Shaban Mubajje says countries like Iran, Afghanistan, and Lebanon among others have women only banks.

He says such banks have an all female staff, security guards, customers, advisors, directors, and over seers. Mubajje says such banks promote a culture of chastity and increase the security for the participation of women in the society.

Many Muslims favour segregation of the sexes and forcing women to observe the Islamic dress code in public.

In a country like Iran women sit at the back of buses, and some school and university classes are segregated.
