National Resistance Movement caucus approves bigger cabinet

The National Resistance Movement Parliamentary caucus has approved a proposal by President Yoweri Museveni to create more posts of ministers and state ministers.

The president who met the MPs at Statehouse Entebbe on Tuesday said a bigger cabinet was necessary to ensure more effective service delivery in Uganda. Among the new ministeries to be created is the Ministry of Kampala, Ministry in charge of Bunyoro, Ministry in charge of Eastern Uganda among others.

During the same meeting, President Museveni also named former speaker of parliament Edward Ssekandi as new vice president replacing long serving VP Gilbert Bukenya.

Museveni said that his appointment of Ssekandi was as a result of what he called trust and clean image of Ssekandi.

Museveni also named NRM secretary General Amama Mbabazi new prime minister replacing long serving PM Prof. Apollo Nsibambi.
