Norbert Mao woos Prof. Gilbert Bukenya to join Democratic Party

The Democratic Party has joined president Museveni’s band wagon of wooing politicians from other political parties to join their ranks.

Our informers in city house building in Kampala, which houses the head offices of DP have told us that Norbert Mao, the president general of DP has assigned Fred Mukasa Mbidde, who is also the party’s legal advisor to woo the former VP, Gilbert Bukenya to into the party.

Mao, according to sources in DP, has instructed Mbidde and his team to visit Bukenya on Sunday and try to convince him to join DP. Mao, in his instructions, says that DP has to walk very fast to woo Bukenya because FDC is also doing the same.

Bukenya was a member of DP before he joined the ruling National resistance Movement. He was last week remanded at Luzira prison over his reported involvement in fraudulent purchase of the CHOGM vehicles and has not been hiding his discontent with his party, the NRM.

But the mahogany professor has in the past said he will not desert his NRM party though his statements upon release that he will make new political announcement have raised doubts over whether he will keep in the NRM.
