The Secretary General of the ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM) has dismissed threats by opposition inter party coalition to field one presidential candidate to defeat NRM in 2011 polls.

The opposition inter party coalition comprises of Uganda Peoples Congress, Forum for Democratic Change, Jeema and Conservative Party. These four parties plan to share top government positions if they enter statehouse in 2011.

Mbabazi says NRM officials can not lose sleep over threats by opposition coalition members. Addressing journalists at NRM head offices in Kampala today, Mbabazi said this is not the first time opposition to organize a joint force against NRM and they lose elections.

He says opposition forces produced single candidates in 1996 and 2001 and they lost polls to NRM. Mbabazi reassured Ugandans that NRM will win 2011 polls in Uganda.
