On the road to elections; Platform for justice and truth and NRM party tickets

Elections

Following engaging in running battles between police and Erias Lukwago’s pressure group, Platform for justice and truth, which saw one of the rallies in Butambala blocked by police on grounds that they had not asked for permission, Lukwago pushed the blame to DP secretary general Hon. Mathius Nsubuga Bilekerawo whom he accused of conniving with police to block their activities.

Addressing a press conference at his home, the national coordinator of the platform, Salongo Elias Lukwago maintains that Mathius Nsubuga will not stand in their way as he vowed to take him on to see to it that the group’s activities are held as planned. He also noted that they have set up their own security dubbed SOLIDA that will counter the groups currently trained by the state and Kakooza Mutale, but notes that this group is not armed and will only act like a shield for the pressure group as it moves forward to hold its planned meetings and rallies

On the NRM front two independent MPs have resolved to pick forms and contest on the ruling NRM party ticket in the upcoming general elections. These include primary education minister and Bamunanika county MPJohn Chryzestom Muyingo and Buyaga County MP Barnabas Tinkasimire.

NRM Electoral Commission Chairperson Taga Odoi says the two have already registered as party members and can now vie for any leadership position. One of the MPs, JC Muyingo, picked his nomination forms saying he resolved to run on the NRM ticket saying government has been able to deliver services to the populace.
