University of East Anglia (UEA) is pleased to offer the Kenyan Schools Scholarship. The scholarship, based on academic merit, will be awarded annually up to 10 students.

Any student who is completing A Levels, the International Baccalaureate, or the International Foundation Year who applies to University of East Anglia (UEA) through UCAS and is accepted will be considered.

A scholarship form must also be submitted (below).

Students awarded the scholarship will receive £2,500 annually for up to three years of undergraduate study, totalling £7,500.

Scholarships may be enhanced for academically superior candidates. Scholarship Application Eligibility Criteria (Kenyan qualifications):

• Holders of the Kenyan Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) with very good grades may be considered for entry to the one year foundation courses.
• Holders of the International Baccalaureate Diploma with 28 – 35 points will be considered for direct admission to first degree programmes.
• Holders of British ‘A’ levels, studied in Kenya, are considered for direct admission to first degree programmes.
• Details of the required ‘A’ level subjects for each course and the grades required, can be found in the Undergraduate Prospectus.
• Holders of a good Bachelor degree with honours, will be considered for postgraduate study. Holders of a Masters degree will be considered for PhD studies.

UEA International Scholarships Programme

The University of East Anglia provides over £500,000 of scholarships each year to support international students in their studies.

The awards are made by individual Schools of Study in the Universtiy.

All international students (outside the European Union) are considered for a scholarship of between 10% and 50% of tuition fees.

In order to be considered for a UEA scholarship you do not need to make a separate application. Please indicate on your application for admission that you wish to be considered for a scholarship.

It is important to make an application as early as possible because they are considered as they are received. So apply early to make sure of the best chance of success.

If you are granted a scholarship, you will be informed at the time you receive your offer of a place at UEA.

Scholarships are awarded to students on the basis of academic merit and are normally for the duration of the period of study – three years for Bachelor and PhD degrees and one year for Masters programmes.

Development Studies Scholarships

They are available from all Schools of Study and across most courses of study.

Students of outstanding academic ability will also be considered for Faculty Scholarship Awards made by the Dean of Faculty, usually in April or May each year. These are highly competitive and prestigious awards.

The School of Development Studies at UEA has two scholarships for African students specialising in agricultural and natural resource issues applying for a one-year taught Master’s course in Environment and Development or Rural Development: the Marshall Papworth Scholarship and the Lord Walston Scholarship.

Selection is made by the school and all eligible candidates will be considered.
