Dr. Otunu was summoned to the police last week to clarify on statements he allegedly made while on a visit in Lira recently, accusing President Museveni of supporting the Lord’s Resistance army rebels.

Otunu says the summons preferred against him of criminal Libel are misconceived and part of the alleged government’s efforts to intimidate him not to stand against President Museveni in 2011 general elections.

Last week, Dr. Otunnu defied police summons and failed to appear at CID and instead preferred to send his lawyer, Erias Lukwago, who is also the MP for Kampala Central Division to represent him.

Otunu claims to have evidence on the statements he made against Museveni on Voice of Lngo FM. Speaking in Kampala on April 21, Otunu said he is ready to defend his claims against Museveni if police uses proper channels to summon him.
