Parliament orders on compensation before roadwork begins

Parliament has directed the ministry of works to stop demolishing people’s properties for road construction before they receive their money for compensation.

The directive was made by the deputy speaker of parliament Jacob Oulanyah after Bukoto East MP Florence Namayanja reported to parliament that people whose properties were destroyed on Masaka road which is being constructed are being robbed of their money for compensation by the officials of ministry works.

Namayanja says some residents have been given forms indicating that their money was transferred on their accounts but the beneficiaries have not got the money.
