Uganda Police received orders on Monday from the Inspector General of Police, General Kale Kayihura to shoot and kill on spot anyone found with illegal guns.
Due to low and delayed salaries, some Uganda Police Officers resort on lending out their guns at night to armed robbers to get extra cash after robbery is done.
A number of Ugandans and some police Officers lose their lives because of armed robbers who many times are found using Police guns to execute their robberies.
Last week Cadet Assistant Superintendent of Police Joseph Bigirwa, who was responding to an armed robbery of a petrol station and mobile money shop was shot and died on the spot in Kajjansi. The thugs shot the officer twice in the chest and legs and made off with his pistol.
Kampala Metropolitan Police spokesman, Ibin Ssenkumbi, described the killing as absurd.
