President Museveni demands for life skills among youth

President Yoweri Museveni has directed the ministry of Education and the one of Gender to ensure that the young people at all levels are empowered with life skills necessary for social economic transformation.

Launching the Youth Livelihood Program under the ministry of Gender and social Development, Museveni stressed that the capacity of the country’s Human Resource is critical for its transformation.

Museveni said that training and equipping the young people with entrepreneurship skills and knowledge will enable the biggest percentage of the population to identify economic opportunities in the Agriculture, industrial and services sector.

Meanwhile the President asked youth district leaders not to under utilize the motorbikes and bicycles for administrative and mobilization purposes. He says that the leaders should also use the facilities to identify and work youth activities for wealth creation.

The state minister for youth Ronald kibuule explains that this youth livelihood program is an initiative to avail young people with startup capital with relaxed conditions as experienced in the previous schemes.

He said that the youth livelihood Program was this year allocated 19.3 Billion shillings that is expected to address issues of unemployment and poverty among youths
