President Museveni to open 9th Uganda parliament on Tuesday

President Yoweri Museveniu will officially open the 9th Parliament on Tuesday and deliver his first state of the nation address of his fourth term.

According to the Public Relations Manager of Parlaiment, the function will take place at the International Conference Centre in Kampala.

The beginning of Parliament will be proceeded with reading of the national budget on Wednesday this week by the minister of Finance Planning and Economic Development, Maria Kiwanuka.

This follows the official formation of the government after the ministers approved by the parliamentary appointments committee took their oaths of office state house on Monday.

The new cabinet has 70 ministers which passed the vetting of the parliamentary appointments committee headed by the speaker of parliament Rebecca Kadaga.

Five ministers were not be sworn in after  parliament rejected them on different grounds. Some of the rejected  ministers included the former Kampala mayor and nominee for minister without portfolio Nasser Ntege Sebaggala, others rejected in the vetting exercise were nominee for Bunyoro affairs state minister Saleh Kamba , James Kakooza (Primary Healthcare) and investment minister Muyanja Mbabali. The President is also yet to name the Minister of State for East Africa affairs.
