Museveni’s team was trailing 3-2 by the time Uganda’s President and Ban Ki-Moon joined their respective teams on the pitch on a cool Sunday evening in Kampala.

The two leaders were playing as part of the War Victims Day Football game in Kampala which is a precursor to the International Criminal Court review conference that opens at Speke resort Munyonyo in Uganda on Monday 31st May.

The conference that has attracted more than 200 delegates from different countries will review the progress of the ICC Rome statute that was established to prosecute war crimes and crimes against humanity.

The match was organsied by the Uganda War Victims Foundation, African Youth Initiative Network with support from the No Peace without Justice. It featured war victims from the war in Uganda and Darfur and dignitaries and delegates to the conference from different countries of the world.

Organizers say the football match was aimed at ensuring the war victims meet and interact with delegates at the ICC review conference, and to show that everyone is equal.
