Rwanda hosts African business council meeting

 

Rwanda has hosted the first East African Business Council retreat and strategy meeting. The two-day meeting has brought together board members and business management teams from  Uganda, Kenya, Tanzania, Burundi, and Rwanda.

The participants who are over 300 will assess and analyse the past, present and the future of the business environment in East Africa amidst the expanding mandate in regard to regional integration.

The meeting is taking place at Lake Kivu, SerenaHotel, Ruvabu District in the WesternProvince. There is a lot of business information the participants from Uganda have put across. The main challenge in the meeting was English as deligates from Burundi, Tanzania and Rwanda spoke poor English.

The meeting has discussed the challenges facing the private sector while conducting business in Uganda, Rwanda, and Tanzania, Burundi and Kenya and ways to mitigate such challenges.

Established in 1997 to foster the interests of the private sector in the integration process, the East African Business Council (EABC) is the apex body of business associations from the five East African Community partner states.
