Kyaddondo East Member of Parliament Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu popularly known as Bobi Wine has called off the plan by his supporters to boycott the upcoming Cranes match against Cape Verde.

Bobi Wine went on his Facebook page on Monday to refute the use of hashtag #boycottugandacranes that started when his concert named Kyarenga concert was left in balance.

I have seen some friends act out of anger as a result of the Kyarenga concert cancellation by the Namboole management. Friends, I don’t agree with the trending hashtag #boycottugandacranes. Uganda Cranes is our national team in which we should always take pride and support with all our abilities,” the legislator wrote.

Our national team is the mirror of the best and worst in us as a nation so all they need is Love and understanding, not condemnation. We are all Uganda Cranes and Uganda Cranes is us,” he added.

The concert which was originally scheduled to take place on October 20 at Mandela National Stadium, Namboole was then shifted to November 9 with claims of the stadium being booked by a wedding.

Bobi Wine Kyarenga Concert

Earlier in a statement, Police  had asked Kyagulanyi to cancel the concert since it’s not on the calendar of events Namboole Management submitted to them.

However, there were no sign of a wedding Mandela National Stadium as management had claimed on October 20.

Mr Jamil Ssewanyana received a document from FUFA with concerns that the stadium will not be up to the CAF standard if it was to host Bobi Wines’ show. The show remained in balance.

It has come to the Federations notice that Mandela Stadium management has entered into an agreement to have a public event take place on November 9, 2018 within the stadium. In our opinion, any public event within the International football match period put the Stadium into an unacceptable standard to detriment CAF docking off points from the Uganda Cranes for the upcoming,” FUFA Chief Executive Officer Edgar Watson Suubi  wrote.

All these annoyed Bobi Wine supporters who then started a move to boycott the next upcoming Uganda Cranes match against Cape Verde.

The Federation of International Football Association (FIFA) has approved the financial audit report of the Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA) of 2009.

In a letter sent to the federation, the world soccer governing body found the report sent by FUFA very adequate and funds well utilized in the development of the game in the country.

The Chief Executive Officer of FUFA, Edgar Watson Ssuubi says the money that was aimed at developing football categories like Women’s football and administrative purposes was well used and accounted for during the 2009  report.

Edgar says that this certifies the credibility and integrity of FUFA under the presidency of Lawrence Mulindwa because it shows what the Federation is doing to develop the sport in the country

FIFA sends money to its member states through development programmes to cater for the game’s development and Uganda last year received 25,000 US dollars.
