Slovenia national football team overcame still resistance of the Algerian national football team in Sunday’s Group C match, beating the Desert Foxes by 1-0 to lead the group on 3 points. The other Group C members England and USA played to a 1-1 draw on Saturday evening.

There wasn’t much to differentiate the two teams in the first half other than Algeria’s rough play but the second half did produce the moment that Slovenia and their supporters will live to relish.

Slovenia Captain Robert KOREN masterminded the key moment of the match when he scored in the 79th minute. Algeria was already playing at less capacity following the suspension of substitute Abdelkader Ghezzal for a second bookable offense.

The match played at Polokwane in front of 30,325 spectators will be a thorn FOR England and USA who must now win each of their two remaining group games if they are to qualify as first or second to qualify for the last 16.
