Sources and functions of vitamins

 

Vitamin A (retina): Sources of vitamin A are liver, fish, liver oils, greens and yellow fruits, water melon, vegetables, carrots and garlic etc.

Functions of vitamin A: Prevents night blindness and other eye problems that enhances immunity and repairs the mucus membranes.

It is important in the formation of bones and teeth. It aids in fat storage, protects against colds, flue and infections of kidney, bladder, lungs and acts as antioxidant. Vitamin A is a well-known wrinkle eliminator.

Its defiency symptoms according to Dr. Aisha Rashid Lukwago are dry hair and skin, poor growth, night blindness, insomnia fatigue and skin disorders among others.
