Stanbic bank Uganda is to invest UGShs. 400 Million in micro and small scale agribusinesses. It has partnered with CURAD, an agribusiness to bring about agribusiness development.

The main aim of this partnership to target micro and small agriculture business through offering management skills. It also includes training the small business owners to explore their potential for better productivity.

Apollo Segawa the Executive director of CURAD advised people to “bring ideas to get started and when strong and good to go, they would be taken to Stanbic bank to ensure that the business gets going.”

He also noted that “this is to support mainly the youth and if the youth who would have joined show that their businesses are growing and there is change in their livelihood, Stanbic bank would invest more in agribusiness.”

Hon. Victoria Sekitoleko noted that “other operations such as NAADs, operation wealth creation who have tried to bring about agribusiness development fail mainly not because of lack of money, but because of people lack the knowledge to run the businesses.”
