Students receive leadership training

Over 100 students from different universities have received training in leadership and management skills.

The training programme under the theme, Inspiring Women in Leadership, was organized by the International Republican Institute and the African Youth Development Link to identify young women in universities and develop their leadership skills.

The students also held a mock debate on the Marriage and Divorce bill 2009.

Guest speaker and Nakaseke Woman MP, Rose Namayanja urged the students not to sit on their leadership skills but utilize them and take the country forward.

The Country Director of the International Republican Institute, Jeremy Liebowitz, says that the Institute is committed to focusing its efforts to empowering women in Uganda and will continue to offer such training to other university students in the near future.

The Country Director of the International Republican Institute, Jeremy Liebowitz says some of the universities that attended the training include Makerere University, IUIU, Uganda Christian University and Kyambogo University, among others.
