President Museveni’s press secretary, Tamale Mirundi has said that he is so thankful to Uganda’s head of state. Mirundi says that even if president Museveni decides to sack him, he will remain eternally grateful to him.
“President Museveni saved my mother from death, he has educated my children, enriched them- And then what else do I want from him?”

Mirundi says that it is president Museven who paid his tuition fees while he was still a student at Makerere University. He rubbishes peoples’ allegations that he (Mirundi) has accumulated wealth through using stolen money.

Tamale Mirundi also denies allegations that president Museveni uses him to abuse the Kabaka of Buganda and insult anyone and every institution.

The government has dismissed reports that Uganda is backing M23 rebels of DR Congo.

This follows a leaked 44 paged report by the UN Security Council group of experts pinning Rwanda and Uganda for backing the M23 rebels, who have been fighting the DR Congo army since April.

The document that builds on a UN report published in June, further says that army units from Rwanda and Uganda have helped the M23 expand its control of territory in the war-torn east of DR Congo.

However speaking to Journalists  this morning the Permanent Secretary in the ministry of foreign Affairs Ambassador James Mugume said these are wild allegations accusing the group of experts of being used by some countries that do not want stability in DR Congo.

He however says government will not be derailed in its efforts to bring stability to DR Congo.

Rwanda too has often denied the allegations as totally baseless.

The Director of Public Prosecution (DPP) Richard Butera has denied allegations by the President of Forum for Democratic Change (FDC), Col. Kiiza Besigye that he is biased.

Besigye told an opposition gathering on weekend in Jinja that parliament should pass a vote of no-confidence against Butera because the DPP is fond of imposing charges against opposition members on the directive of president Museveni/government.

Butera, however, has told news men in Kampala that he is not being used by president Museveni to fight political wars. Butera says that he imposes charges against opposition members who might have committed crimes.

He says that calls by Besigye to parliament to pass a vote of no confidence against him have no grounds. Besigye says that on several occasions Butera labeled charges against him including that of rape.

A driver of one of the top ministers in the National Resistance Movement (NRM) government was driving his boss to Entebbe International airport today and he noticed he forgot his passport at home and he directed his driver to take him back.

When he reached at home his wife was bathing with soap on her face. The NRM boss whose name is withheld tip-toed & touched her on the boobs, and the wife responded, ‘Moses (the driver) have you dropped my stupid husband so soon? Relax, don’t rush, we have the whole of this weekend this time together.”

The woman noticed the person she was talking to was quiet; she washed her face only to see her husband standing behind her. The woman fainted and the known lethal mouthed minister called his guards to arrest the driver and to take the woman to Mulago hospital.

The soldiers brought the driver to the minister who gave him a slap on the spot. The driver denied the allegations but the minister ordered his guards to take him to Kiira road police station where he said he will find him when he returns from England.

Makerere University councilor to KCCA, Bernard Luyiga who had been rumoured to have crossed to NRM after the Lord Mayor of Kampala, Erias Lukwago declined to appoint him deputy mayor recently  has described the allegations against him as baseless.
Lukwago recently named Sulaiman Kidandala as the deputy mayor of Kampala declining to name Luyiga who had made an alliance with NRM councilors to back him for the same post.
Luyiga has however told our informers today in Kampala that that his ‘marriage’ with NRM councilors did not mean that he had defected to the ruling party in Uganda.
“I note with concern baseless allegations that I crossed to NRM because of Lukwago’s failure to appoint me as Deputy Lord Mayor. I wish to state categorically very cleanly that such information is coming from people who for some reasons (best known to them selves want to see me down politically), he explains.

Scores of UPDF soldiers have been deployed at Kasata Hussein Bukenya’s home in Kakiri after Kasta lost reportedly threatened to mobilize people in Kakiri to demonstrate on Christmas eve over high prices of commodities.

“Kasta is intimidating NRM supporters in Kakiri,” Ibin Senkumbi, the police spokesman for Kampala metropolitan region which includes Kakiri says. Senkumbi however denied allegations by Kasita that UPDF has deployed at his home.

Kasita too complains that UPDF and the police have deployed at and near his home and they are ferrying more soldiers in his constituency.

Kasita alleges that about 30 soldiers were deployed at his home last Thursday and more were deployed across Busiro north constituency. Kasita alleges that the government wants to intimidate him because his support in the area is big even although he lost the parliamentary victory to NRM candidate, Prof. Gilbert Bukenya.

The Chairman of Uganda People Congress (UPC) party, Maj. Edward Rurangaranga has said that by constitution David Pulkol and Odit are still officials of the party.

Addressing the media in Kampala today, Rurangaranga reiterated that the party constitution does not give the party president powers to expel the officials who were elected by the General Assembly.

Rurangaranga says that the party is planning to hold a meeting next year that will decide whether Odit and Pulkol should be suspended.

On 12 December the UPC party President Olara Otunu suspended David Pulkol and Odit from the offices of the Secretary for Policy and Mobilization and Secretary General respectively on allegations of mismanagement of funds.
