International Student House Residential Scholarships: International Students House and its sister charity International Students Trust provide a range of Residential Scholarships for students from the developing world.

The Residential Scholarship provides free accommodation at ISH for up to one year.

Under certain circumstances this may be extended.

The scholarships provided are worth £600,000 a year.

The majority of scholarships are for postgraduate courses or less frequently for an undergraduate course, where the university is prepared to waive the 3 years tuition fees.

To be considered for an ISH Residential Scholarships applicants must meet all of the following criteria:

  • Be from a developing country (excludes North America, Japan, South Korea, Singapore, Australia, New Zealand, Israel, and all countries in the European Economic Area)
  • Studying at a publicly funded college/university in London (visit www.hefce.ac.uk/UniColl/ for a list of publicly funded colleges/universities)
  • Studying on a full time degree level course
  • Applicants must be in receipt of a scholarship to meet their tuition fees. Strong preference will be given to students who have been offered a tuition fee scholarship from their relevant university.
  • Applicants must be in financial need
  • Students should have a good academic record
  • Must be returning to their home country on completion of their studies

Awards are usually made for one academic year only.

Because of this heavy preference is given to people who are on one-year Masters degrees, or to students entering the final year of a PhD or Bachelors degree.

Scholarship Application Process

International Students House has special arrangements in place with partner institutions to take a set number of scholarship students from their courses and therefore we do not accept individual applications from those who will be studying at the following institutions:

  • University of Westminster
  • London Metropolitan University
  • Development and Planning Unit, University College London
  • Institute of Archaeology, University College London
  • Institute of Child Health, University College London
  • International Centre for Eye Health, LSHTM

As part of this agreement students who are recommended to us directly by the university/college are considered.

All forms must be returned by end of June

For more information and scholarship applications, see: International Student House Residential Scholarships

Voters in Bamunanika say they are not happy because president Museveni appointed their MP John Chrysostom Muyingo to deputize a woman who holds a bachelors’ degree.

President Museveni appointed Jessica Alupo (holds a degree in education) as the Minister for Education and appointed Dr. Muyingo who holds a PhD in Education to deputize her.

The voters who declined to be named told this writer that the proper equation would be that Alupo deputizes Muyingo and not vice versa. Sources tell us that Muyingo has been overheard complaining to his pals that Alupo doesnt qualifies to be a minister he deputizes.
