Bad breaths, mourning breath, breath odour or halitosis are some of the terms used to describe a noticeably unpleasant breath odour from people when they are talking.

Most breath odour comes from food particles trapped in the mouth. When food remains in the mouth it becomes a breeding ground for the bacteria that cause bad breath.

Other causes of mouth odour are poor oral health, improper cleaning of the dentures, periodontal disease as well as smoking. Also alcohol consumption, taking certain medications or a salivary gland disorder causes mouth odour.

Bad breath can also be a sign of an underlying medical condition of the stomach, lungs and bloodstream. Also when the mouth is dry saliva production decreases, leaving the mouth’s natural ability to clean its self, impaired.

Saliva contains properties that reduce bacteria in the mouth. The reason doctors recommend drinking lots of water if you have bad breath.

Bad breath makes people cringe whenever you speak. The people suffering from bad breath many times repel their friends. Scientists tell us that the people with bad breath have a nasty case of halitosis.

Bad breath, according to experts, scientists and researchers is caused by odor-causing bacteria gorging & producing waste (volatile sulfur compounds) in a person’s mouth. Researchers tell us that odor-causing bacteria don’t need oxygen to survive, but they prefer a dry, airless environment.

Research reveals that an accumulation of plaque (the white film that appears on teeth, gums & tongues) can distort the person’s mouth oxygen ratio and help in the bad guys flourish and making your breath rancid.

Many people especially in slums produce bad breath. When they talk one feels bad smell. But this can be avoided and in this news article we bring to you how it can be stopped.

How to avoid bad breath: avoid spicy foods, onions and where applicable avoid eating too much garlic.

Brush your teeth well and ensure that no food particles remain in you mouth. Use dental floss to help you to keep your mouth fresh.

Rinse your mouth with a mouth freshener. Use mouth sprays whenever you can and visit a dentist regularly.

Have your teeth aligned, seek immediate treatment for cavities, and avoid medicines that cause dryness of your mouth, renal and liver failure because these also can lead to bad breath.
