The Executive Editor of Daily Monitor, David Sseppuuya announced on Tuesday that he was leaving the media house after serving it for more than two years. While communicating his decision to the Daily Monitor staff on Tuesday, Seppuuya reportedly said that he was quitting the company for personal reasons and that he was returning to his private work.

But we have been told by the sources in the Daily Nation, the mother company for the Daily Monitor that though Seppuuya is a consummate professional in journalism, the top most managers of the Aghakan foundation where Daily Monitor dwells were not so thankful for his contribution to the company’s growth.

Sources say that Aghakan foundation is not happy that Daily Monitor is no longer breaking up stories the way it used to do in the past. According to sources, Aghakan wonders how the government owned newspapers: The New Vision and Bukedde could break powerful stories which Daily Monitor can no longer break. The same sources further told us that even the new media houses in Uganda like the Daily Red Pepper (Uganda’s fastest growing tabloid), the Weekly Observer plus on line media houses such as weinformers.net and ugpulse.com can break up powerful stories daily than the Daily monitor thus the cause for dismissal of some of the Daily Monitor staff. The same sources told our informers that Aghakan wants Daily Monitor to be one of the media houses in East and central Africa that could break up powerful news stories and the rest of the media houses in the region sneezes.

The managing editor of the Daily Monitor in charge of weekend editions, Fredrick Masiga is also leaving the company in a month’s time perhaps due to the same reasons pushing Seppuuya out of the media house.

Causes of cord accidents or obstructed labour that is to say the baby gets stuck on its way either because it is too big or the mother’s bones are too narrow.

There is also umbilical cord prolapse-this is when part of the cord drops out of the birth canal especially when ‘waters’ break through, and knotting of the umbilical cord.

Knotting of the umbilical cord is fairly common in low developing countries like Uganda and happens in early pregnancy when the foetus has a lot of room to move around in the amniotic sac!

The budget running KCCA now was not debated by the appropriate organ called the Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA) which was supposed to make what they call a budget break down according to priority areas of the city.

The figures that came from the central government as conditional grants were instead broken down by the Executive Director unilaterally hence set the wrong priorities. As a result of the public outcry more so the bad state of the roads in the city, the Lord Mayor Erias Lukwago decided to convene a special KCCA meeting-purely to revisit and realign those priority areas in order to address the current situation in the city.

According to the KCCA act, the budget has to be presented to the authority for final approval which the Executive Director Jenifer Musisi Semakula did not do. So Tuesday’s KCCA meeting that flopped had been called to address the above issue. Musisi realizing that her office was going to be questioned over the expenditures currently goingon that were not approved by the authority, she decided to frustrate the meeting by influencing councilors not to attend citing unfounded grounds that the meeting had not been legally convened.

The notice was issued to all councilors on 11th Jan calling for a special authority meeting on 17th and that was an adequate notice for a special meeting. Ms Musisi wants to continue spending money without accountability queries, this is the reason she is using the councilors to boycott meetings called by Lukwago. To be continued!

The supporters of the Democratic Party have threatened to storm Luzira prison, break into its gates and set free the political prisoners detained there without trail.

The Public Relations Officer of the Democratic Party, Jude Mbabaali says that DP wants the government to release the 23 Bugandariot suspects who have been jailed at Luzira prison since September 2009.

Mbabali says that DP has given the government only 30 days ultimatum to start the trial of the case of these 23 suspects. Speaking at the DP head offices, Mbabali said that failure by the government to release the suspects the party would use violent means to secure their immediate release.

Mbabali says that DP lawyers headed by Mukasa Mbidde, Medard Seggona and Erias Lukwago have visited all the offices concerned in a bid to secure the release of the suspects. Mbabali says that the party has written to chief justice Benjamin Odoki over the issue.

The Prime Minister John Patrick Amama Mbabazi has blasted whoever is calling him corrupt saying such people are idiots.

Mbabazi who had come to present a self defence before the Parliamentary ad hoc committee on the regularization of the oil sector says many people have branded him corrupt whereas he is not.

The Prime minister who had come with very brief written responses such as yes, No, I don’t know, you go and ask them, to the questions put before him, caused fury from some members of the committee, which forced the committee to ask him to take a 15minute break as they sorted themselves out.

Mbabazi says there was no merit in the statements of people who say he is corrupt because he sold his property to a willing buyer.

He says whoever calls him corrupt because of the Temangalo land transaction is an idiot.
