Minister in charge of Kampala Frank Tumwebaze

The minister in charge of Kampala Frank Tumwebaze has been summoned to appear before parliament and explain how KCCA came up with the tax levied by the Authority for parliamentary and local council candidates to pin up posters in Kampala City.  The directive by speaker Kadaga comes after Lubaga south MP John Ken Lukyamuzi calls for parliament intervention to prevail on Government to suspend the tax being imposed.

KCCA recently put a by–law for all candidates to pay 500 shillings for each poster they pin per day and set a fixed fee of 5 million shillings for MPs to pin their posters.

Another MP from Kampala, Moses Kasibante of  Lubaga north, informed the house that the charge imposed on them was a one man show, since the council has never met to come up with such a decision. The government chief whip Ruth Nankabirwa says although the MP would have first handled the matter with the council before calling for
Government intervention but the minister in charge of Kampala should explain to parliament why the fee for pinning posters was exorbitant.
