The deputy leader of government business, Al hajji Moses Ali has dismissed allegations from some MPs that government is to be blamed for the ongoing lightening disasters.

Gen Moses Ali

While answering the MPs on the floor of parliament Ali said that the effects of lightening are wide spread in the whole country and therefore even the government officials are affected.

He says that lightening is a general disaster that the government has no specific power over. Ali however says that the government has taken some steps towards solving the problem saying that they have assigned the duty of coordination to the minister in charge of general duties.

The government has directed that all schools buildings have lightening pods or conductors which can arrest the electricity from thunder and direct it to the ground without affecting people or buildings.

He however refused to set the timeline as it was request by mps saying that it’s not possible to set a time line for the disaster since they don’t know when it hits the public.

Over 20 pupils have been killed by lightening in this month alone.
