What you should do

• Take at least 6glasses of water a day
• Avoid too much lip gloss
• Eat salads and fruits
• Do a lot of exercise

How to care for your lips

• Fold a tissue in half and run it under water
• Squeeze it so that it is not soaking, but moist/damp.
• Run it over your lips. This will moisten them.
• Apply Vaseline or petroleum jelly. This will moisten and soften your lips
• Press your lips together for 15-30 seconds. Make sure the Vaseline/petroleum jelly is well absorbed.
• Apply a thin coat of lipstick (it’s usually best to stick with neutral tones, but if bright reds andsuch work on you, go for it!)
• Blot out by kissing off the excess lipstick on the back of your hand. DO NOT use a tissue for this, as little bits could stick to your lips.
• Apply a thicker coat of lip gloss. This will give it shine.
• Get some moisturizer (the thicker the better). After you’ve brushed your teeth at night, put the moisturizer on your lips, rubbing it on them and a little bit around your mouth until you can’t see it. Then, get some more and dab a thick layer onto your lips so your lips look white (the color of the moisturizer). Leave it on overnight, and during the night it will soak into your lips and dry, leaving them smooth, soft and perfect.

Prevention of hydrocephalus is a more complex matter, as there are more possible causes. They include congenital disorder, post-infections, and cerebral hemorrhages or tumors.

However improving maternal and child health care and improving immunization coverage is believed to prevent some of the post –infectious cases.

Adequate and timely referral for treatment of hydrocephalus prevents secondary disabilities such as blindness and brain damage. Also remember that in our earlier news reports about hydrocephalus we told you that hydrocephalus, also called Water on the Brain, is a condition in which there is an abnormal build up of fluids in the cavities of the brain. The buildup is often caused by an obstruction which prevents proper fluid drainage.

The fluid buildup raises pressure inside the skull which compresses surrounding brain tissue, causing progressive enlargement and softening of the head, convulsions, and brain damage. Hydrocephalus can be fatal if left untreated. Spina bifida and hydrocephalus are very expensive conditions to manage as they require much labour and money.

Severe brain tumours may make people to lose balance on the ground. Its effects may kill skin colour, and affect growth.

To some people, the problem worsens after being diagnosed with a cancerous brain tumour. Radiotherapy, one of the methods doctors use in the treatment of brain tumours may also affect someone’s balance on the ground, according to Dr. Richard Idro, a neuro paediatrician at Mulago Hospital in Kampala.

Dr. Idro says that brain cancers in children are fatal if not detected and managed properly in its initial stages.  Around the world, hundreds of people, especially children of all ages have lost their lives to brain cancer.

Dr. Idro says that the actual cause of brain cancer is not known. Cancerous brain tumours may be either primary or secondary. Primary cancerous brain tumours may develop in the brain. But secondary brain tumours develop when cells from a cancer that started in different parts of the body spreads to the brain.

Some women develop some painless swollen lumps on the lips of their vagina. They apply candiderm cream in vain.

One of the common causes of lumps on the vagina is cysts. Cysts are blocked glands that usually swell and become painful. Cysts look like pimples and cause pain and pressure.

For large and painful cysts, it is better to see a doctor to drain them and prescribe medicine.

The lumps could be caused by painless viral skin infection that causes pearl-like swellings on the skin. Lumps sometimes go untreated and they may appear around the vaginal area. It is recommended that when symptoms persist you visit a doctor.

Many men in one way or the other face delayed ejaculation in their life time. When a man delays to reach his peak of sexual satisfaction, it is referred to as delayed ejaculation.

Dr. Joseph Sebuguzi of Ndejje health centre IV says delayed ejaculation can be short-term or lifelong problem. The doctor says that it is very normal for a man to experience delayed ejaculation from time to time if the condition is short-lived. But men should visit psychologists if the problem is long lived.

Delayed ejaculation is caused by psychological problems, stresses, chronic health conditions such as diabetes mellitus and medications, such as anti-depressants, drug and alcohol abuse, mental health condition, depression, and anxiety. So in a nutshell, Dr. Sebuguzi says delayed ejaculation may result from physical, psychological concerns or both and its treatment depends on the underlying cause.

People who are more than 20% over the recommended weight for their height and sex are more vulnerable to degenerative diseases-high blood pressure, certain cancers and diabetes, arthiritis.

Obesity is caused by: poor diet that’s high in calories and simple carbohydrates, inactivity, hormone imbalance [particularly thyroid], toxins, neurotransmitter imbalance [serotinin], mental, emotional or spiritual, genetics, side effects of pharmaceutical medications.

Obesity can be prevented in many ways. Limit sedentary activities, discourage snacking or eating while watching TV, include starchy foods on de menu.

Eat plenty of fibre-rich foods, and eat less fried foods and sweets. Reduce sugary drinks, and watch the portion of meals and snacks. Also reduce or stop giving sugary drinks, snacks and meals to your children.

The doctors also add on that it is advisable to encourage in active pray or exercises.

Menopause is a time of freedom from the menstrual cycle and the onset of wisdom and power. It is caused by aging, eating disorder, extraordinary intense exercise or physical training, ovarian disease, surgical removal of the ovaries usually as part of a hysterectomy, hypo-functioning adrenal glands.

Recommended diet (food) for early menopause: Eat a diet loaded with plant foods, especially whole grains, legumes, fresh vegetables and fruits.

The above foods (read diet) contain phytosterols, naturally occurring nutrients that have a hormone-balancing effect. Eat soya beans, tofu, miso and flaxseeds, all of which are excellent sources of phytoestrogens.

Vitamin E regulates estrogen production. Make sure to include cold-pressed nut and seed oils in your diet, perhaps as a dressing for a green salad.

Drink a glass of clean water every two walking hours. You will flush out toxins and replace fluids you may have lost during hot flashes.

Causes of candida of the nipple: Candida is a yeast infection or thrush is a fungus that thrives in warm, dark, moist environments such as the mucus membranes of the mouth and vagina.

The diaper area, skin folds, bra pads and on persistently wet nipples. It normally lives on humans and 90% of babies are colonized by it a few hours after birth.

Candida of the nipple may occur any time while breastfeeding, due to constantly wet nipples. The widespread use of antibiotics also encourages the overgrowth of candida.

Some infections also come up as a result of breastfeeding mother having sore nipples, turns candida from its harmless to a disease.
