Parkyard Market in downtown Kampala which was fenced off, leaving scores of traders stranded.

PARKYARD traders under their umbrella association, New Agenda Traders Development Association Parkyard have petitioned Parliament seeking assistance to help them acquire the two billion shillings that was promised to them by President Museveni when their market caught fire.

The traders led by their Chairperson, Kassim Sebadduka and Secretary General Muhammed Musisi while presenting their petition to the Committee on Presidential Affairs noted that eviction ,relocation or the relocation process and its procedures is no longer their problem but rather need capital for their businesses.

Musisi says that they feel betrayed by parliament and government when they did not assist them in demolition the market and they now they want the committee to assist them in accessing more capital to boost their businesses.

Musisi also denied allegations that they were bribed by the developer and Nakivubo board of trustees to accept the eviction citing that when they attended the last two meetings before their eviction from parkyard it was clear that government had made a decision for the market to be demolished.

Members of parliament are still divided over Dr. Specioza Wandira Kazibwe’s bid for the chairperson of the African Union despite claims that 1 billion shillings was invested by government  for her candidature for this job.

The woman member of parliament for Dokolo district Cecilia Ogwal asked Ugandans who have contrary views about Dr. Wandira Kazibwe’s candidature for the AU job to tone down their statements. She says that people with issues with Dr. Wandira should wait on and allow the country take over this job, she added that there are people who had done worst things than valley dams where Wandira Kazibwe was implicated but were elevated to higher levels.
She says that Kazibwe never censored over valley dam scandal.

The member of parliament for Budadiri west Nathan Nandala Mafabi says that the government should come up and own up to the mistakes of Dr. Specioza Wandira Kazibwe before any one calls others to keep what bad things they know about Wandira Kazibwe to themselves.

It seems the Uganda Taxi Operators and Drivers Association (UTODA) is not leaving the Old and New Taxi Parks as it was earlier anticipated following President Museveni’s directive to Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA).

It is said that the president on Tuesday sent a memo to the clerk to KCCA council and to the KCCA executive Director, Ms Jenifer Musisi indicating that the council should reorganize the transport system in Kampala between March and April and in May 2012 the powers to run the transport system should get back to UTODA.

The memo comes weeks after the chairperson of UTODA; Hajji Moses Katongole went to state house and pleaded with the president to save UTODA. According to sources in KCCA, Museveni advises that eliminating UTODA may cause more turmoil in the KCCA transport system.

Museveni reportedly advised that the tender to run buses and taxis should remain with KCCA but KCCA should hire an organisation such as UTODA to implement the contract.

Today in history! It was like today when the soldiers under the Milton Obote II regime reportedly split pregnant women’s bellies.

The LC5 chairperson of Luweero district, Hajji Abdul Nadduli recalls that during that time some people had their hands and lips cut.

He also recalls that some soldiers in Obote II regime would rape women and go away without being charged.

Nadduli likens the acts of Obote’s soldiers with those of LRA rebels. He says that LRA soldiers reportedly rapped women, kidnapped people and displaced millions of others.

Makerere University Acting vice Chancellor Prof. Venansious Baryamureba escaped being thrown in a trench by angry university students from Nsibirwa hall of residence.

The students were demonstrating over poor sanitation in their toilets and internship money. When they went to demand for an explanation why the toilets could not be fixed and why they could not get their internship money the arrogant IT professor could not give them an appropriate explanation.

He was only advising the already charged students to keep quiet so that he talks to them. This prompted the angry students to get stones and canes so that they could discipline him. The IT professor had first refused to address these students and he locked himself in his office until the intervention of prof. Tanga Odoi, the chairperson of Makerere University Academic Staff Association.

The students also demanded for his resignation. The police intervened and the IT professor managed to escape.

The speaker of parliament Rebecca Kadaga says that RDCs, judges, MPs and LC5 chairpersons are all entitled to transport facilitation just like ministers and other government officials.

Ms Kadaga says that the beneficiaries of the car programme are not supposed to disclose details to the members of the press. Recently MPs got 103 million shillings each to buy cars.

UTODA is preparing to file an ordinary suit at the High Court in order to bar Kampala Capital City Authority from taking over taxi parks inKampala.

This comes after the court on Monday ruled that KCCA is free to take over the administration of Old and New Taxi Parks.

UTODA says that it is preparing to file an ordinary suit to block KCCA from taking over the taxi parks. The chairperson of UTODA, Hajji Moses Katongole says that they are to file an ordinary suit where the validity of the contract between KCCA and UTODA will be examined.

However the KCCA director Jenifer Musisi has told our informer that whatever UTODA does will not help it because the authority wants to take over the administration of the parks.

Kiiza Besigye bought houses in Kololo and Makindye respectively, we have got information that Norbert Mao, the president general of DP has bought a pad in Luzira.

We don’t know where Mao, the person who was recently reported in the press as block got the money to buy a hectare of land in Luzira.

However his pals in DP have told us that Mao is rich because he started working when he was too young. He was once an MP forGuluMunicipalitytwice, and the LC5 chairman of Gulu district once.

During his term of office as chairperson and as MP, many whites consulted him many times on matters concerning the LRA war in northernUganda. This is where he got millions of money he saved and he is now using to buy expensive land inKampala. Mao says he is repairing his new house and when he finishes he plans to shift from Ntinda to Luzira.
