Don’t eat anything that depresses body systems or causes nutrient depletion. Cut out refined sugar and white flour, along with fried or processed foods.
Animal meat are loaded with chemical that mimic the effects of estrogen, and hormone that in excess can decrease sperm count n infertility.
So if you must eat meat, make sure it is organic. Avoid alcohol, which reduces the number of normal sperm in men and generally weakens the health of both sexes.
Caffeine consumption has been linked to infertility problems, including miscarriage.
Avoid coffee, soft drinks, chocolate, black and green teas and pharmaceutical medications containing caffeine.

It has been said across the world especially in Africa that a woman’s crown of beauty is her hair. it is no wonder that every woman wants her hair to look good always.

However many women still have bad hair because it has lackluster, dandruff or breaks often.

The causes of bad hair and the remedies include dandruff. Dandruffs are flakes of skin that are shed from the scalp.

Having dandruff is normal and comes in different sizes; some are almost unnoticeable while others are very visible because the cells are shed off in big sizes.

Dandruff is brought about by hormonal changes in the body especially at the start of puberty. However long after puberty stage, women may continue to have dandruff despite them using anti-dandruff products. Woman’s hair sometimes looks badly due to weather, one’s hair style and chemical treatments.

Some women apply ant-dandruff shampoos but don’t rinse them out completely, triggering dandruff. Dust and heat can also spark off dandruff; therefore, a woman should wash her hair at least once week according to hair doctors.

PhD Studentship in Structural Engineering: Loughborough’s Faculty of Engineering offers financial support to talented research students in a number of ways.

Funding for PhD students is awarded on the basis of academic merit and your potential to become a member of one of our internationally recognised research teams.

The Faculty has wide-ranging research capabilities and all six of our departments are able to offer unique and challenging research opportunities. The links below provide information on the areas in which our departments are able to supervise PhDs.

  • Aeronautical and Automotive Engineering
  • Chemical Engineering
  • Civil and Building Engineering
  • Electronic and Electrical Engineering (including Systems Engineering)
  • Materials
  • Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering

There is always extremely strong competition for our funding awards and you need to have achieved a high standard in your studies to date (the equivalent of a UK distinction/high upper second class degree) to receive a funding award.

There are opportunities to obtain funding through research studentships funded by EPSRC (Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council UK), the University and the individual departments. Alternative routes for funding your PhD also exist through our Doctoral Training Centres, Research Associate/Assistant vacancies and Knowledge Transfer Partnerships.

In our first issue on garlic, we told you that dried and or powered garlic boosts your immunity, and to get most out of garlic, it is recommendable that you consume it in raw form.

But in this issue, we are concentrating on the benefits of consuming a piece of garlic for a day.

A clove of garlic a day keeps ailments at bay. Many people always shun garlic for its strong smell that leaves a bad breath.

Garlic is the oldest known medical plant with innumerable health benefits. That is its chemical compound, allicin, which is known to have wonderful anti-bacterial, anti-viral, anti-fungal and anti-oxidant properties.

Garlic provides minerals for example selenium and manganese, and vitamin C which provides protection from free radical damages.

International Training Programme in Food Safety, Quality Assurance Systems and Risk Analysis Grants: Ghent University – Department of Food Safety and Food Quality – is offering a three months International Training Program in Food Safety, Quality Assurance and Risk Analysis.

Food safety is related to microbiological, chemical and physical hazards and is resulting in short term (e.g. infectious disease, kidney problems) or long term (chronical) health problems (e.g. cancer, reduced life expectancy).

The prevalence of chemical hazards and foodborne pathogens and the reported number of cases and outbreaks in the agri food chain are still high, thus affecting personal lives, business and countries economies.

The purpose of this project is to train and disseminate knowledge and know how to participants, working for governmental, research or non profit organisations in the agri food chain and carry responsibility within the control of different aspects of food safety in developing countries.

The main subjects, microbiological, chemical and physical hazards, in food safety are intensively reviewed. Participants will be trained to manage the possible measures of the hazards specified by (inter) national legislation, (Codex Alimentarius) guidelines, quality assurance standards/systems (e.g. Pre Requisite Programs, HACCP, ISO 22000, Global Gap).

Offered every two years.

The Ugandan representative to the East African Legislative Assembly Dan kidega has demanded the East African governments through the East African council of ministers to agree on the method of dealing with the problem of water hyacinth reported on lake Victoria again.

This followed the EALA committee on  Accounts on the East African community for year 2010 chaired by Bernard Mulengan reporting that water hyacinth on lake Victoria is a burden to the vessel’s operation and no efforts are in place to stop the hyacinth .

Kidega said that the East African countries should agree on the methods to remove the water hyacinth on Lake Victoria by use of mechanical approach, use of insects like beetles or use of chemical to spray the hyacinth.

The East African MPS who are now sitting in Uganda parliament noted that the vessel given to the East African community by UK’s Department of international Development in 2004 for use on Lake Victoria to improve safety of navigation and research is not operational due to water hyacinth reported on Lake Victoria waters.
