Study Subject(s):Large Area Stretchable Electronics (Engineering Science with specialization in Microsystems Technology)

Course Level:PhD
Scholarship Provider: Uppsala University
Scholarship can be taken at: Sweden

Eligibility:
The PhD studies will be performed in the subject Engineering Science with specialization in Microsystems Technology, at the Department of Engineering Sciences, The Ångström Laboratory. This position will link our specializations in microfluidic technology with that of active electronic device technology at the Division of Solid State Electronics at the same department. Starting date as soon as possible. As a revolutionary technology, stretchable electronics has been changing our concept of electronics and brought us amazing features in numerous applications. Generally, such features are designed with soft materials as the interface between electronics and the human body or complex surfaces, e.g. epidermal electronic system. They can be attached to the skin just like a temerity tattoo and allow for real-time measurement of various physiology parameters such as heart rate, temperature and so on. As a typical example with high innovation and impact, stretchable electronics is served as the feature cover on NSF FY 2011 Budget Request to Congress.

Scholarship Open for International Students: No

Scholarship Description: The successful candidate should have a Master of Science in physics, chemistry, material science, engineering sciences, or equivalent. Strong collaboration spirit and good communication skills in oral and written English are required. Good experimental skills will be advantageous. We welcome female applicants, since the majority in the group is male. The PhD position is for four years, extendable to a maximum of five years including department duties (typically teaching) at a level not exceeding 20%.
