The ministry of health in collaboration with the Uganda National Drug Authority has started recalling all HIV testing kits which are on the market illegally.

This is after getting information that the kits that are only meant to be used under the guidance of professional medical personnel are now accessed easily by across the counter in drug shops.

The ministry’s public rations officer Rukia Nakamatte says it prohibited to for anyone to test him or herself HIV without undergoing counseling.

Nakamatte says they always have to do pre and post testing counseling which a person cannot do on their own.

She says anyone caught selling HIV testing kits will be prosecuted.

According to the management of Bank of Uganda, a complete set of bidding documents in English may be purchased by interested bidders upon payment of a non refundable fee of 10,000 shillings at the counter in the banking hall of Bank of Uganda headquarters in Kampala. The bid documents are obtained up to 3pm of Monday 2^nd April 2012.

The bids must be delivered to Bank of Uganda headquarters before 3pm on 13^th April and late bids shall be rejected. The management of Bank of Uganda says that bids shall be opened in the presence of the bidders representatives on April 13^th. Our surveillance staff who followed Tumukunde to stanbic bank main branch yesterday were left in shock and awe when the brigadier approached the bank counter and unleashed several 100 US dollars to have them exchanged to Ugandan cash.

Tumukunde went to the bank in a pajero. All the business in the bank came to a standstill as both the workers and other clients had focused their attention on the brigadier. The brigadier was all smiles as he waved to everyone as he was being served.

Immediately after getting the local currency, Brig. Tumukunde walked out of the bank and drove away.
