]]> The Uganda Medical Association has advised the ministry of health to swiftly respond to the Crimean Hemorrhagic fever outbreak by getting to its reservoir sensitize the communities and ensure total protection of health workers on the response teams.

The association’s Secretary General, Dr. Mukuzi Muhereza, says they are disappointed with the way the ministry has so far handled the epidemic.

Muhereza notes that the ministry has not bothered to educate the community and with conflicting messages coming from the Ministry of health officials, the population is now seeking treatment from shrines, further spreading the disease.

Addressing a news conference this morning, the medical workers have called for better management of the epidemic to avoid death or infection of health workers.

Since the outbreak was first reported in August 2017, one case was confirmed on December 26th and one death of a suspected case.
