Mutukula boarder post

The member of parliament  for Kakuto county Rakai district Christopher Kalemba has called on the Ugandan representatives at East African legislative Assembly to intervene into the conflict between Ugandans and Tanzanians at Mutukula boarder on Lake Victoria. He revealed that many people in his area have lost their cows and
motorcycles at Mutukula broader to thugs  who cross from  Tanzania into Uganda.

The representative reported that when wrong elements cross from Tanzania  they steal cows and motorcycles and when  Ugandans report to the authorities nothing is done but the latter are quick in helping  the Tanzanians. He said it is not fair for people to talk about East African integration when there are conflicts at broader points and robberies

among the people of member states.

Kalemba also said that Ugandan fisher men are always attacked on lake Victoria especially at night while fishing by Tanzanians and their fish is taken and in case of resistance some are killed.

The International Criminal Court (ICC) is prepared to charge Joseph Kony in case he has been arrested. Intelligence reports and the information the government is getting from satellites show that the LRA leader Joseph Kony is about to be arrested. As a consequence, Joseph Kony’s lawyers in Kampala have gone to Hague and settle with ICC a few issues.

A source tells us that Kony’s lawyer Caleb Alaka went to Hague on March 30th on sponsorship of an International human rights group/ organisation and Samuel Muyizzi Mulindwa leaves the country on 2nd April.

Sources tell us that Muyizzi and Caleb Alaka’s trip to Hague is intended to make them prepared to plead for LRA leader in case is truly arrested.

The Ugandan top criminal lawyers also have gone to Hague for a pre trial chamber of the ICC and they are expected to discuss several procedural matters and cases before this Court from the great lakes region and most especially matters touching the indictments of LRA top commanders.

They will also discuss the progress of the International Crimes Division (ICD) of the high court of Uganda, a special division created to try International related crimes and crimes against humanity.

An intelligence report by the Chieftaincy of Military intelligence (CMI) has advised president Museveni and his government to create more jobs for unemployed youths in order to reduce their involvement in strikes, crimes and demonstrations.

The report signed by one of the directors of CMI in charge of economic monitoring indicates that Uganda/government stands to lose in future if the rate at which demonstrations go on.

The report dated March 28th indicates that the demonstrations are about to become chaotic and fatal in case the problem of unemployment is not vigorously looked into. We hear the report has already reached the president’s office.

Former Lord’s Resistance Army rebel commander, Thomas Kwoyelo has been remanded to Luzira prison, a day after the High court issued a directive for his release.

Yesterday, a panel of three Constitutional Court justices led by Constance Byamugisha dismissed an application filed by government seeking to block Kwoyelo’s official release Friday.

Thomas Kwoyelo in court

The government had filed a constitutional application seeking to stay the court’s earlier decision that it had ordered the International Crimes Division of the high court to sit and officially release Kwoyelo. Government cited grounds that Kwoyelo is entitled to amnesty just like other ex-rebels who had renounced rebel activities.

Kwoyelo was expected to be released today but the panel of Judges at the International Crimes Division of the High Court in Gulu, led by Justice Owiny Dolo has argued that Kwoyelo must acquire a certificate from the Amnesty Commission like the other former rebels before he can be released.

One of the lawyers representing Kwoyelo, Samuel Muyizi says Kwoyelo who was transported to Gulu yesterday, will be brought back to Luzira prison later today.

He adds that their next move is to pursue the issuance of the certificate and wait for the court’s decision.

Kwoyelo was battling over 53 charges of murder, willful killing and kidnap with intent to kill, aggravated robbery, and destruction of property during the two decade war in Northern Uganda led by Joseph Kony.
