The government of Uganda has used part of the 79 billion shillings that was directly disbursed to the districts in Northern Uganda for the implementation of the Peace Recovery and Development programmes in those districts to procure 60 hydra form machines for 40 of the PRDP districts.

This comes after earlier this month the government revealed that 54 chiefs had got houses as a benefit of hydra foam technology in Northern Uganda.

The Minister of State for Northern Uganda Reconstruction, David Wakhikona has told journalists in Kampala that a total of 82 houses and 3 Health Centers have been built from hydra form technology in Northern Uganda.

He says now with more Hydra Foam machines being taken to the districts in the North, more houses are likely to be built as result of the technology.

The Minster says the bricks made by Hydra Foam Machines are cheaper, faster and are produced in a more environmentally friendly way.

The Uganda State Minister for Northern Uganda Reconstruction David Wakhikona has revealed that his ministry wants a space of three years to put Northern Uganda at the same level of development with other regions of the country.

Northern Uganda has suffered over 20 years of Lords Resistance Army insurgency which displaced millions, claimed the lives of tens of thousands of people and general destruction of the Northern Uganda mainly subsistence economy.

The region is now on the recovery path after LRA led by Joseph Kony shifted their bases to Northern DR Congo and Central African Republic after being defeated by Uganda People’s Defence Forces (UPDF). Government and the international community are investing billions of money through programmes like the Northern Uganda Social Action Fund (NUSAF) and Peace, Recovery and Development Plan for Northern Uganda (PRDP) among others.

Wakhikona told Journalists at the Office of the Uganda Prime Minister that quick recovery will however, depend on the proper implementation of the Peace, Recovery and Development Plan (PRDP) for Northern Uganda.

The Northern Uganda minister says that the success registered by PRDP so far is enough to put the region on another level of development.

According to Wakhikona PRDP has constructed one thousand kilometers of roads, built over 200 houses for health workers and constructed many boreholes among other projects.

Government has allocated 123 billion Uganda shillings in this years budget 2010/11 to the ministry of Northern Uganda reconstruction. The budgetary allocation is an increase from the previous financial year allocation of 100 billion Uganda shillings.
