Scholarships and Awards for International Undergraduate Students: Trent International Program (TIP) offers a limited number of highly competitive renewable Full and Tuition scholarships to International Undergraduate Students who are not citizens or permanent residents of Canada.

These scholarships and Awards are tenable for up to four years of an Honours degree if a “B” average is maintained each year and are available for students entering the University in September.

TRENT-ESL students are eligible to apply for International Scholarships and Awards upon successful completion of the TRENT-ESL program.

Trent International Full Scholarships:

  • The amont of the scholarship is CDN$22,000 per academic year (8 months).
  • The scholarship covers international tuition and ancillary fees. Depending on need, may also include books, health insurance, room and board (from Sept-April) and/or living expenses.
  • It is based on outstanding academic achievement, community and/or international service, excellent record of extra-curricular activities and leadership, as well as an assessment of financial need.

International Tuition Scholarships:

  • The amount is CDN$14,000 per academic year and the scholarship covers international tuition, ancillary fees, and health insurance (from Sept-April).
  • It is based on high academic achievement, community and/or international service, excellent record of extra-curricular activities and leadership.

International Levy Tuition Scholarship:

  • The amount is CDN$14,000 per academic year and the scholarship covers international tuition, ancillary fees, and health insurance (from Sept-April).
  • It is based on high academic achievement, community and/or international service, excellent record of extra-curricular activities and leadership.
  • Open to students from developing countries.

International Awards:

  • Trent grants up to CDN$3,000 to students with high academic achievement and a good record of extra-curricular activities.

Deadline: 01 March each year.

AACC International Scholarships: AACC International Scholarships are awarded annually by the AACC International Foundation.

The foundation awards both undergraduate and graduate scholarships.

The AACC International Foundation has focused on providing undergraduate scholarships and graduate fellowships to students excelling in studies relevant to grain-based food science and technology.

To qualify, applicants must be;

  • A current AACC (American Association of Cereal Chemists) International student member and
  • Be majoring in a program of courses and/or participating in research that would normally lead to a career in cereal chemistry and technology (including oilseeds).

The scholarships are supported by permanent endowments and by annual contributions from companies and AACC International Divisions.

Deadline: March every year.

University College London – Africa Educational Trust, UK: University College London (UCL) and the Africa Educational Trust (AET) have agreed to collaborate in a scheme to enable students from Africa, who are financially unable to study in the UK, to pursue full-time undergraduate studies at University College London (UCL).

With this scheme University College London (UCL) supports the aims of Africa Educational Trust (AET) to help the people of Africa to help themselves.

Under the scheme, two full bursaries are available annually for Africa Educational Trust (AET)-nominated students who have accepted offers of places at University College London (UCL).

Grant Application Eligibility Requirements:

  • Be a national of any African country (including Madagascar), currently living in an African country, and have one or both parents living in an African country, or are orphaned;
  • Be currently attending school or have completed school in an African country;
  • Be liable to pay tuition fees at the rate applicable to Overseas students, as assessed by University College London (UCL);
  • Lack the financial means necessary to pursue undergraduate degree studies at University College London (UCL).

Selection Criteria:

Scholarships are awarded based on the aims of the scholarship.

Benefits and Duration:

Each bursary will consist of full tuition fees and a maintenance allowance for the duration of the student’s programme of study, as well as economy air travel to/from the UK at the beginning and end of the bursary-holder’s degree programme.

In addition, the bursary includes an allowance (on request and up to a specified maximum sum per bursary holder) to permit two members of the bursary holder’s family to attend their graduation ceremony.

The Borlaug Leadership Enhancement in Agriculture Program: The Borlaug Leadership Enhancement in Agriculture Program (LEAP) is a fellowship program, funded by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), to enhance the quality of thesis research of graduate students from developing countries.

Awards will be made on a competitive basis to students who show strong scientific and leadership potential, have a well coordinated proposal between their home university, a US university mentor, and the CGIAR mentor, and whose research is related to a strong research and support project within the host country.

Emphasis will be placed on work that has relevance to the national development of the student’s home country.

Awards will be made three times a year but applications may be received at any time. The focus region for the current Request for Applications (RFA) is sub-Saharan Africa.

An eligible candidate for a Borlaug LEAP grant must bea citizen of a USAID-assisted country

Applicants in the field of animal agriculture may be from any USAID-assisted country.

Applicants in the field of agriculture must be from sub-Saharan Africa.

Undergraduate Scholarships for International Students: The Government of Western Australia, through the Department of Education and Training (DET) offers a number of prestigious scholarships for international students to undertake the WesternAustralian Universities’ Foundation Program (WAUFP) at eitherCanningCollegeorTuartCollegeinPerth,Western Australia.

Applicants from all countries will be eligible for consideration. Scholarship winners are selected on the basis of academic results and a reference from the school.

Where academic results do not allow for differentiation between applicants, resumes or curriculum vitae will be considered.

There are Six (6) full scholarships covering the course fee of A$13,500 and twenty (20) partial scholarships to the value of A$5,000 each being offered.

To be awarded a full scholarship requires a student to have achieved outstanding academic results. This would normallyrequire the student to have achieved the highest possible grade in at least six subjects.

Partial scholarships normally require the student to have achieved the highest possible grade in at least five (5) subjects.

How to Apply:

Film Your Issue Global Competition: The United Nations, the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, and other organizations and media leaders have joined forces to engage young adults (14-24) in contributing to the public dialogue on pressing social issues using the power of the Internet and user-generated content.

Film Your Issue invites high school and college students in the United States and around the world to express themselves on pressing contemporary issues by creating and up-loading short two-minute films on issues that impact them andtheir generation.

Films can be uploaded to multiple parti-cipating platforms, including MTV, YouTube, and American Film Institute Screen Nation, as well as promoted on MySpace TV.

An ICANN fellowship is a grant of support which is awarded to enable individuals from stakeholder groups around the world to attend ICANN meetings.

This is a means tested program.

Applicants must be citizens of economically eligible countries; the World Bank classification of low, lower-middle, and upper-middle economies.

The fellowship covers the cost of economy class airfare and hotel, as well as providing a stipend after successful completion of the program, in order to assist in covering some basic expenses incurred by the fellow.

Recipients are expected to actively contribute to ICANN processes and be a part of the next generation of ICANN leadership.

ICANN Government advisory committee representatives and ccNSO members from eligible countries will be prioritized but anyone (apart from participants already supported by another ICANN constituency travel support programme) is welcome to apply.

Fellowships are awarded by an independent selection committee based on a mix of criteria including applicant experience and references, geographic proximity to meeting, receipt of past fellowships, etc

Travel will be covered by ICANN directly.

Hotels will be booked and covered by ICANN directly.

All additional hotel charges beyond the room are the responsibility of the fellow.

All fellows are eligible to receive a flat stipend not to exceed US $500.00.

Stipends will be provided to fellows by wire transfer, following successful completion of the fellowship program at the ICANN meeting attended.

The Wallace Global Fund (WGF) supports activities at the global and national level, and will consider significant local or regional initiatives offering the potential to leverage broader national or global impact.

The program areas are; Natural Resources, Civic Engagement, Media and Leadership, Justice and Women’s Human Rights.

The mission of the Wallace Global Fund is to promote an informed and engaged citizenry to fight injustice, and to protect the diversity of nature and the natural systems upon which all life depends.

WGF Women’s Human Rights Program

Population pressures exacerbate many of the fundamental obstacles to sustainable development: degradation of natural resources, income disparity, gender inequality and poor maternal and child health.

The Fund believes that it can uphold women’s human rights by expanding their reproductive health choices, thereby reducing unwanted childbearing and improving the lives of women and their families.

The Fund seeks policy initiatives which promote globally to:

  • Increase access to contraceptives
  • Increase access to emergency contraceptives
  • Improve adolescents’ ability to make informed choice and obtain Quality reproductive health services
  • Increase access to safe abortion
  • Resource mobilization in europe
  • Resource mobilization in u.s.
  • Eradication of female genital mutilation
  • Promote microenterprise
  • Ensure that millennium development goals (MDGS) prioritize reproductive health

Grant proposals are processed and reviewed on a continuous basis.

The average grant size is $50,000, with actual grant awards ranging up to $400,000.

The Fund makes both one-year and multi-year grants.

Wallace Global Fund will consider proposals for either core support or project-specific support.

WGF does not fund purchase of land, capital construction, profit-making businesses, debt reduction, endowment campaigns, fundraising drives/events, or scholarships, tuition assistance or other forms of personal financial aid.

Deadline: Grants are being reviewed on a quarterly basis in March, June, September and December.
