A Member of Parliament for Terego County, Kasiano Wadiri has beaten the President of Forum For Democratic Change (FDC), Col. Kiiza Besigye hands down in Kyambogo University elections.

The conflict started last month when Besigye fronted John Mugabi for Kyambogo Guild elections and Kasiano fronted his son Christopher Buni. Kasiano is also a member of FDC.

Interestingly, Besigye released all his money into the camp of Mugabi and Kasiano released his parliamentary earnings to his son Buni. At the climax of the process, Buni who stood as an independent candidate beat off Besigye’s candidate to win the Kyambogo guild elections.

Buni a second year Bachelor of Information Technology and Computing together with his supporters jubilated as they sang songs of praise to Wadiri. Buni polled 3781 votes against Besigye’s candidate who got 2223 votes.

The Lord Mayor of Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA) is not supposed to inform the police or not even president Museveni/ Uganda government when doing his work including road inspections, touring city markets, visiting hospitals, churches, mosques, political party headquarters, night clubs, taxi parks and business centres.

On the other hand, the President of Forum for Democratic Change (FDC), Col. Kiiza Besigye and all other political party presidents have a right like other Ugandans to go any where in Uganda whether in markets, churches etc without informing police.

FDC deputy spokesman, Toterebuka Bamwenda asked Museveni to avoid politics and look at the issue of freedom of assembly, movement and expression with a sober mind. Bamwenda asks whether Museveni ask for a permission to tour Kampala markets or to pass on the roads.

The FDC spokesperson says he has never seen civilians in Uganda attack police until after the police tear gasses them.

The Director of Public Prosecution (DPP) Richard Butera has denied allegations by the President of Forum for Democratic Change (FDC), Col. Kiiza Besigye that he is biased.

Besigye told an opposition gathering on weekend in Jinja that parliament should pass a vote of no-confidence against Butera because the DPP is fond of imposing charges against opposition members on the directive of president Museveni/government.

Butera, however, has told news men in Kampala that he is not being used by president Museveni to fight political wars. Butera says that he imposes charges against opposition members who might have committed crimes.

He says that calls by Besigye to parliament to pass a vote of no confidence against him have no grounds. Besigye says that on several occasions Butera labeled charges against him including that of rape.

Members of opposition Forum for Democratic Change have spent the whole of today in shock after the state preferred murder charges against their supporters arrested yesterday. The spokesperson of police, Judith Nabakooba says that FDC supporters are in detention over the killing of a policeman John Bosco Ariongo.

Some of the FDC supporters facing murder charges include Henry Kavuma, and George Kaija. Other FDC supporters face charges of holding unlawful assembly and disobeying lawful orders while they were with Col. Kiiza Besigye.

Late Ariongo was hit by a stone on his forehead by a suspected rioter and died as he was being taken to the hospital. The suspects in their statements have denied having had a hand in the death of Ariongo. Nabakooba says that more FDC supporters are to be arrested after investigations are complete.

Opposition Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) has reportedly recruited youth with a purpose of burning markets, parishes of kingdoms and other places of public interest.

The security agencies also allege that FDC has recruited youth who are undergoing a military training in the Democratic Republic of Congo. The aim of the garrison being trained in DRC is to over throw president Museveni’s government.

Security minister Muluri Mukasa says that the security network has continued to receive intelligence reports indicating that FDC has been and is still nursing plans of over throwing Kampala government by use of arms and to burn markets.

Currently the government is holding several people in connection with plans to form rebel groups that will fight to over throw NRM government.   However Judith Akello, the MP for Agago says that FDC is a political party in Uganda which doesn’t believe in violence as a means to change government.

Members of opposition political parties including Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) and Democratic Party (DP) have threatened to pull out of the National Consultative Forum (NCF) because president Museveni’s government doesn’t listen to their concerns.

The leadership of opposition parties have told us that they supported NCF in the beginning but it has now turned a nuisance and a useless platform.

NCF was set up by the 1995 Constitution of Uganda and the Political Parties and Other Organisations Act of 2005. The Secretary General of DP, Mathias Nsubuga says that the members of opposition parties are concerned that  the ruling party /government doesn’t respect freedom of assembly, funding of parties, free and fair elections, democracy, safety, security of people and tackle economic problems.

The NCF was formed to resolve disputes among parties, present views of parties to the Electoral Commission and ensure that the parties adhere to an agreed code of conduct.

Nsubuga challenged the Government to build the culture of parties working together and respect and listen to each other.

The President of Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) Col Kiiza Besigye has said that Ugandans need to rise up against President Museveni.

Speaking in an interview with our informer Besigye said “Ugandans need to come to a consensus and get ride of a thieving NRM government.” He says for him he has a belief that Ugandans can use Activists for Change (A4C) rallies to over throw President Museveni and his government.

Besigye repeats that NRM regime will not last up to 2016. President Museveni’s fourth term as president of Uganda expires in 2016.

Besigye says that he is currently lying strategies for the over throw of President Museveni. He says the time is near when he will call upon all Ugandans to demonstrate at police stations, military barracks and at the homes of government officials and see whether the government will kill all people.

Besigye again asked the members of the public to resist fear saying that for him he has been arrested for over 20 times and taken to court but have never regretted having joined the liberation struggle.

Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) is planning to replace its leader Col. Kiiza Besigye in July this year. Besigye has been in the political rhyme of FDC for over eight years.

The leadership of FDC has already drawn a roadmap for choosing a person to replace Kiiza Besigye. Besigye announced that he was set to leave the post after three unsuccessful runs for President of Uganda.

The FDC secretary general, Alice Alaso, recently presented the roadmap for transitioning from Besigye to a new FDC leader perhaps Maj. Gen. Mugisha Muntu or opposition leader Nandala Mafabi to two of FDC’s top organs- the management committee and the National Executive Committee.

The two committees have a duty to adopt the roadmap. Alaso says that the dates for a meeting to replace Besigye are not yet known.

Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) has asked the women of Uganda to tie themselves on trees at the NGO Forum (Kabalagala) head offices in solidarity with the mothers who are caring for children with nodding disease.

The mysterious nodding disease invaded northern Uganda and it has already claimed several lives and dozens of others are admitted in hospitals in critical condition.

The FDC women leader Ingrid Turinawe says that the women should tie themselves as a symbol of the indignity women have had to face as they tie their nodding children to trees in Northern Uganda.

She says that even men are free to join the women in the campaign to untie Uganda from all the ills that have plagued our nation. “Come join us as we declare – no to indignity, to suffering, to corruption, to all the other things that we want to untie our country from. Come to the NGO Forum,” she says.
