DENIVA who were among the observers of the exercise, sighted intimidation of voters, media, shut down of social media platforms, voter bribery, crime preventers hijacking the duties of the presiding officers in some areas, chaos, late start to the voting among many others. However, they have also petitioned all the parties and independent
candidates that participated in the whole exercise at presidential level calling for peace and use of legal means to challenge the process that they refer to as being a sham.

They fast delivered the petition to the NRM where they were welcomed warmly by the assistant political person Charles Egwawu and then Kasangati to the FDC flag bearers residence where police fast made a call to allow them access the home but also bared journalists from making their way to Besigye’s home.

DENIVA Uganda one of the local NGOs that was accredited to observe and do voter civic education in the ongoing general elections has today revealed that the nation is likely not to have a free and fair electoral process if security organs among other state machineries continue violating electoral laws.
Addressing a news conference today, DENIVA representative noted only one party that is in power has been left to freely exercise its freedom which to the observers is not right and raise fear that if all continues like this then the polls might end up in a chaotic way. He further calls on religious leaders to strongly advocate for peaceful and non violent campaign as well as the electoral period whenever they lead prayers.
However partner NGO from Rakai, Lwengo, Kisoro, Kabale and other areas have pinned security heads in these respective areas for championing the violation of electoral laws in their areas.
