Kyadondo South MP Hon Isa Kikungwe wants Kampala Capital City Authority Legal Committee to explain their report on the election of the Lord Mayor which they handed over to the Minister in Charge of Kampala Frank Kajiji Tumwebaze.
Isa Kikungwe who is also intending to aspire as Kampala Lord Mayor made these demands while addressing a press conference at his MASSA offices at Kabuusu in Kampala. He says that the capital city authority legal committee which includes Concilor Shifra Lukwago, Benerd Luyiga among others deliberated on this matter and handed a report to the Minister in charge of Kampala Frank Mwebaze which recommended that the election of the position of the Lord Mayor remains an adult suffrage unlike what the Minister is coming up with.

He says that since there is no legal document to terminate the election of the Lord Mayor through adult suffrage he is to nominate next week on Tuesday but threatened to seek legal redress against the electoral commission once he is not nominated on this day.

The Democratic Party leaders have urged the party flag bearers to work hard to gain support for the 2016 elections and enable the party win many elective posts. This call was during the flagging off of DP flag bearers in Mukono district by the party top leaders at St. Paul catholic church, Wantone in Mukono.

The party National Chairman, Beswale Kezala, warned DP flag bearers not to risk working for individual interests to gain wealth but to provide service to the community which will have voted them into office. The Buganda region vice president of the Democratic Party, Betty Nambooze Bakireke, and the MP for Busiro East. Merdad Segona, said that the party members should be ready to support one candidate with other opposition parties under The Democratic Alliance. Segona said that in Africa, there is no opposition party that can win elections single-handedly without support from other political parties.

Nambooze stressed that the party in the parliament should have more than 50 members of parliament, urging party members to have faith in the party flag bearers and warned them not to vote independent candidates.

The party National Treasurer, Isa Kikungwe, warned against the party members fighting the party and causing division.

The sources in Kenya told us that Nairobi accepted to hire Ugandan soldiers because they are rough enough to encounter any type of post election hooliganism and violence.

Uganda soldiers will partner with other regional forces and continental garrisons including West African armies to ensure that there is peace after elections in Kenya. There was fatal chaos after last national elections in Kenya in which over three thousand people died.

The same sources further told us that Ugandans under their umbrella association of the Citizens’ Coalition for Electoral Democracy in Uganda (CCEDU) will monitor Kenya’s presidential election. The Kenyan election exercise will take place on March 4, 2013.

Normative theories of democracy assert that politicians should pay attention to the wishes of the electorate during election campaigns.
Election campaigns are one point in the political process in which the masses of the population can directly participate in government policies, according to former prime minister, Apollo Nsibambi.
He says that an election campaign is a feedback mechanism from voters to the government.
Feedback mechanism is a means of exchanging information so that the views and aspirations of office bearers and voters can be mutually adjusted to the advantage of the voters.
Otherwise it is not a time to manipulate voters with the corruption of tea, sugar and soap, bribes and brown envelopes but rather focus on voter concerns and needs that the reigning government might has ignored in the past.
He says Ugandans across the ethnic divides need better roads, well equipped hospitals, better schools, affordable water services, attractive salaries, job opportunities, affordable power services and security.

Butambala County parliamentary by election nominations starts on Tuesday and Wednesday this week.

The electoral commission is done with updating the voter’s registers and the registers are being displayed in the constituency to remove the names of the dead or people who shifted from Butambala.

The Butambala district returning officer, Mark Muganzi is in charge of manning this by election exercise.

Muganzi says that the commission will nominate Democratic Party’s Muwanga Kivumbi, independent’s Faridah Nakiboneka, Uganda Federal Alliance’s Tomusange Batemyeto, Forum for Democratic Change’s Shalif Ssentongo, National Resistance Movement’s Faisal Kikulukunyu  and Farouk Walungama, a journalist with radio Bilaali.

Today was not a good day for Butambala county MP, Faizal Kikulukunyu (NRM) as he has been flashed out of Parliament.

The high Court that sat inKampalatoday nullified the election victory of Faisal Kikulukunyu over voter bribery.

Justice Kibuuka Musoke ruled that the court received sufficient evidence to prove that Kikulukunyu bribed voters by buying for them steamers, so the nullification of his election victory.

The judge says they based their ruling on evidence of one Everest Kitimbwa, who told court he received a steamer from the MP and later gave it to another voter identified as Aisha Nsonyiwa.

Kikulukunyu was dragged to court by his election rival, Muwanga Kivumbi of the Democratic Party. The MP was jointly sued with the Electoral Commission.

Kivumbi accused the commission of having failed to restrain Kikulukunyu from carrying out illegal activities during the campaign period leading up to the February 18th general elections.

Kivumbi’s lawyers argued that Kikulukunyu offered registered voters various incentives including money, cosmetics, steamers, foodstuffs, cows and footballs, with a view to influencing them to vote for him.

Kivumbi, was represented by Lukwago and company Advocates.  However Kikulukunyu has described the ruling as robbery and accused the judge of being a member of the Democratic Party, who always puts the interests of DP at the forefront.

The NRM secrets in the recently concluded Bukoto South parliamentary by elections have leaked to the press. The secrets a source in NRM told our informers are shocking.

They indicate that the FDC candidate in the race, Julius Sentamu was kept in the race by a backdoor deal with NRM known by very few.

He was kept in the race to work as a spoiler by garnering at least 2000 votes which by the way if it had happened would have impaired DP’s vote and made NRM carry the day.
Its said the coordinator of this project was some guy who feels so much airs around himself and comes from Rubaga. This same gentleman one time during the election campaigns wondered how the opposition could support MP Moses Kasibante instead of him.  There were two main candidates in the last Thursday race that was won by DP. They were Mathias Nsubuga (DP) and Alintuma Nsambu of the National Resistance Movement. The seat went vacant after the court nullified the election victory of Hajji Muyanja Mbabali.
