Following a fatal accident which happened this morning at Katende along Mpigi – Masaka road claiming lives, the roads body UNRA has come out to attribute the continued accidents along the Katende –Masaka stretch to high speed on the new smooth surface along the route.

According to Eng. James Okiror who is the head of maintenance at UNRA, drivers are using very high speed due to excitement over the new surface forgetting that the surface is smooth making it easy for vehicles to slide and cause accidents. He urged traffic police to fully enforce traffic rules which include regulating speed, if such accidents are to come to an end along the route.

It is said that the early morning accident claimed over 3 lives on spot with others sustaining major injuries following a fatal accident that involved 5 cars.
