Leah Kalanguki was crowned miss Uganda in 2014 amidst criticism on social media that she was not fit for the crown. Well, ever since, Leah has had a successful modeling career that has seen her compete in a number of international beauty competitions.

Leah is currently on the verge of winning the ‘Miss World Next Top Model 2016’ competition that is currently taking place in Miami USA.

The Top Model or Next Top Model is a unique international fashioned event that has existed since 1990.The themed reality television show format is produced throughout the world and seen in over 120 countries producing over 200 seasons so far. The show takes the form of modeling competition whose winners typically receive a contract with a major modeling agency and a cover shoot and fashion photo spread in a fashion magazine. The format was created by Tyra Banks for the original series, America’s Next Top Model which was first aired in 2003, produced by Ken Mok‘s 10 by 10 Entertainment.

The modeling event competition is between 44 beauty queens selected from parts of the world.

According to the organisers, the objective of the event is to highlight the importance the Model plays in fashion industry, and in doing so pay homage to Beauty and to Fashion.

Leah stands a chance to win over 200,000 Euros (About Ush758, 000,000) if she wins plus other lucrative deals that come with the prize.

If she wins this, Leah will have set another  record of winning the prestigious prize after  another Ugandan Aamito Lagum winning it a few years ago hence putting Uganda on the world map in the fashion industry.

Leah according to statistics is currently leading the other 43 contestants with 4186 votes ahead of Brazil’s 2234 votes, Greece’s 1143 votes, Philipines’ 841 votes and Cameroon the only other African country among the top spot with 822 votes respectively.

Despite the criticism at home, many people seem to like Leah due to her attitude of open mindedness. In her earlier interviews, Leah has always set the record straight in as far as her passion for humanity concerned. Probably this could be the reason she was able to be crowned miss Uganda 2014. Leah says she always stands to promote agriculture because she believes it’s a sure way to transform lives of especially the youth in Uganda.

“Am going to continue to inspire people because that’s what am passionate about and I plan on growing bigger in the fashion industry. Am going to continue with my agriculture because I love,” she said in one of her previous interviews.

The World Top Model event is recorded and broadcasted globally,” the report signed by Fiore Tondi reads in part.

It seems it is a fashion now in Uganda for prominent people to change names. Recently Uganda’s most feared intelligence officer; Gen. David Tinyefuza changed his name to David Sejusa.

Also many people in the recent past have changed names. They include Gen. Salim Saleh.

Now we hear unconfirmed reports that the KCCA director has changed her name from Jenifer Musisi Semakula to ‘Jenifer Musisi Semakula ‘Mpawo Atalikaaba.’

When our reporter went to KCCA head offices to cross check the validity of this information Ms Musisi was in a closed door meeting.

However another source at KCCA told the reporter that it could be true that ms Jennifer Musisi is contemplating to change her name but she can’t change it to Jennifer “Mpawo-Atalikaaba.” The same source further told our news informer that it is the supporters of the Lord Mayor, Erias Lukwago who calls Ms Musisi ‘Jenifer Mpawo Atalikaaba.’
