Georgina Sweet Fellowship: The trustees of the AFUW Inc Education Trust invite applications for the biennial Georgina Sweet Fellowship to support a woman postgraduate to undertake advanced post-first degree study or research in any field, at an Australian university.

Value:

  • $6,000 Australian Dollars.
  • The award may be applied toward the cost of the successful applicant’s studies, but does not include travel expenses.
  • Payment will be made in two halves, subject to satisfactory progress by the candidate.

Fellowship Application Eligibility Criteria:

  • hold a degree from a recognised university.
  • be a financial member of a National Federation or Association of the International Federation of University Women.
  • be formally accepted by the university at which she proposes to study.

Deadline: 31st May each year.

ICGEB Short term Fellowship Programmes

ICGEB Short term Fellowship Programmes: ICGEB Fellowship Programmes are open to nationals of International Centre for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology (ICGEB) Member States only, who must submit their application to the International Centre for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology (ICGEB) Liaison Officer in their country of origin for endorsement.

Endorsement is an essential prerequisite for acceptance of application.

Only endorsed applications will be transmitted to International Centre for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology (ICGEB) Headquarters for review and final selection.

Research activities may be undertaken only at the International Centre for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology (ICGEB) laboratories located in Italy (Trieste, Ca’ Tron (Treviso) and Monterotondo (Rome), India and South Africa.

Applicants must contact the International Centre for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology (ICGEB) Group Leader of their choice to ascertain laboratory space availability and obtain a prior agreement on their proposed research project in order to be admitted to selection.

Fellowship Application Eligibility Criteria:

  • Candidates must be nationals of an International Centre for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology (ICGEB) Member State and may not apply for fellowships to be undertaken in the country of their origin.
  • Applicants should be holders of a recent PhD or have at least 3 years’ research experience.
  • Preference will be given to candidates below the age of 35.

Terms and Conditions of Support:

  • Stipends while at the ICGEB laboratories (6-12 months) are calculated to cover the cost of normal living expenses for one person at the location of the individual host institute.
  • The fellowship will cover the cost of one return ticket (air economy most direct route) and medical health insurance. Deadline: Throughout the year.

UNU-IIGH Ph.D. Fellowships Programme: The United Nation University International Institute for Global Health (UNU-IIGH) Ph.D. Fellowships Programme seeks six postdoctoral candidates from educational institutes around the world who would benefit from a period of stay to twelve months at UNU-IIGH in Kuala Lumpur.

The programme will be closely related to UNU-IIGH’s own research programmes:-

  • Efficiency and Quality of Care in Health Systems
  • Newly Emerging and Re-emerging Diseases
  • Control of Non-communicable Diseases
  • Information Technology in Health
  • Climate Change and Health
  • Impact of Globalization on Health

Fellowship Application Eligibility:

  • Applicants must be at the dissertation-writing stage of their Ph.D.s, with their research proposals accepted by the candidates’ universities.
  • Candidates must be able to make use of the UNU-IIGH facilities in Kuala Lumpur to carry out their own research on a topic relevant to current research areas of the UNU-IIGH.
