The minister of state for Animal industry Bright Rwamirama has criticized the people of kiruhura for politicizing the increase of prevalence of East coast fever in their area by claiming that it has killed 5608 cattle.
He made the remarks while appearing before the Agriculture, Animal industry and fisheries to respond to the petition of the people of kiruhura which was brought to parliament by Nyabusozi Member of Parliament col. Fred mwesigye over East coast fever killing their animals and blaming Government for not controlling it.

He attacked the group for exaggerating the number livestock that have died of East coast fever in kiruhura district to 5608 yet the actual number is 200 cows since the beginning of this year.

Rwamirama told the Agriculture committee chaired by the member of parliament for Bugangaizi county west Dr. kasirivu Atwooki said that its not true that the ministry of Agriculture vaccinated animals against East coast fever elsewhere and ignored kiruhura area as alleged by petitioners.

He however, told mps on the committee that ticks which spread East coast fever are resistant to the drugs because farmers do not use the specific dosage.

The minister said that that its criminal for any farmer to have livestock with ticks and a directed the local Authorities to enforce this law so as East coast fever does not affect live stock.

He also blamed some live stock farmers who buy cheap live stock praying drugs which are fake and cannot control ticks.

Rwamirama warned farmers against grazing their live stock around game reserves to avoid them getting ticks and disease which can cause Uganda livestock products banned on world market.

Residents of Butagaya sub-county in Jinja district have abandoned the body of their colleague in a house on suspicision of having died of the deadly maburg fever.

According to Moses Batwala a resident and former jinja district vice chairman, 60 year old Sylvester Ziraba a resident of Kamira village died on Sunday after several days of vomiting blood.

Batwala reveals that the deceased was also passing lood in his urine in addition to having red eyes and high body temperature.

He said Jinja hospital medical team was called but failed to show up  for tests on the deceased to give confirmation on whether or not this was a marburg case.

Ziraba died yesterday but by this afternoon, the body had not been taken to hospital for examination.

But when contacted on phone, the district health officer Dr Peter Dyogo ruled out the possibilities of the deceased having died of Maburg, calling for calm among the residents as they investigate the cause of the death.

A fresh outbreak of the deadly marburg fever was reported in the country early this month and has so far claimed 6 lives while over 100 suspected cases are still being mornitored by health officials in Kabaale where it was first reported and at Mulago hospital.

Millions of people around the world lose sleep in nights while managing fever among their children. So because of this problem, today we decided to bring you the best mechanisms one can manage fever in children/infants.

The first step is to keep the children dressed well. Some club goers in Uganda call this one ‘dressed to kill!’ Dressing the child lightly is so important because most body heat is lost through the skin.

Also remember that overdressing may result in a higher fever and make the child more uncomfortable.

And if the child is having chills or is shivering, give him/her a light blanket and keep the house temperature slightly low.

Again remember to give the child many fluids to replace the lost fluids and cool the body. You can deep a sponge in lukewarm water at about 27degrees to cool the body. Also give the babies antipyretics (drug used to prevent fever).

The doctors recommend drugs like paracetamol in syrup form or rectal form to lower the temperatures of our children. Doctors in some countries like Botswana, Namibia, Senegal, Tunisia, and Cameroon also recommend use of aspirin.

The president General of the Democratic Party (DP), Norbert Mao is in trouble after his Benz registration number UAJ 799T hit a disabled man and broke his ribs.
