Muntu to form own party after quitting FDC

Former Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) party president, Gen. Mugisha Muntu, has declared that he will form his own political party after breaking away from his former opposition party.

Addressing a press conference on Thursday at hotel Africana, Muntu announced that he has made a new alliance ” the new formation” as the current political group but promised to launch the official party on December 25, 2018.

He added that all the features of the party, say; the colour, slogan, symbol and objectives will be determined by the situations that will be evident from now to the date of the launch.

Ex-army commander also urged other politicians from various political groups to join the cause, as, Muntu states, it is not intended at damaging or mudslinging others but to unite the whole opposition.

“We are also reaching out to the progressive leaders within the Movement (NRM). (…) We need to reach out to each other so that we form a strong and credible alternative,” he said.

Muntu also insists on his tactic of engaging the public to have “an inclusive, forward-thinking and ideologically sound process”.

On the issue of leaving FDC, Muntu highlighted internal wars as the major precursor of his move.

“We became a destabilising factor in all the Opposition,” Muntu said. “We have fought each other to the point of paralysis.” he remarked.

Inter Religious Council releases agenda for national dialogue

According to Sheikh Shaban Ramadhan Mubaje, the chairperson of the IRCU the national dialogue will not be just an event but rather a process to national cohesion.

“We envisage that the first phase of the process will culminate into national conference to take place in June 2019,” Mubaje said.

He added that the political party dialogue will be led by the national consultative forum and the inter party organisations for dialogue.

Among the prominent activities of the dialogue is the negotiations between the National Resistance Movement (NRM) and Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) alongside the constitutional review which will be spearheaded by the constitutional review commission.

“We hope that all citizens here and in diaspora will embrace this nonpartisan and inclusive process so that together we can build on the progress of the last 56 years of independence and shape the future of our country,” Mubaje added.

Uganda political activist calls for quick delivery of justice

The Uganda opposition Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) party secretary for Women affairs Abooki Nyakato has appealed for quick investigations in cases involving the Uganda Inter-party cooperation (IPC) women league activist to enable them continue to carry out their activities.

Nyakato who has been involved in an all women demonstrations aimed at disbanding the Uganda Electoral Commission (EC) to prepare ground for a free and fair 2011 elections says delay in delivery of justice derails their activities.

In a media statement seen by Ultimate Media, Nyakato says Uganda Directorate of Public Prosecutions (DPP) deliberately keeps on requesting courts to extend their hearings top distract them from carrying out their political activities.

The Uganda IPC women activists who are popularly known for breaking the security detail and entering the EC headquarters in Kampala early this year accuse the Uganda EC headed by Eng. Badru Kiggundu for being biased in favor of the ruling NRM party are in court facing charges related to holding illegal demonstrations.

Nyakato says IPC Women league will continue holding peaceful demonstrations to demand for the disbandment of the EC and for the enactment of better electoral laws despite continued government threats and intimidations.

In his state of union address, Uganda president Yoweri Museveni indicated that the government will not heed to Uganda opposition calls to disband the Uganda current Electoral Commission.

Uganda MP calls for prayers ahead of 2011 polls

The Woman Member of Parliament for Soroti district Alice Alaso has urged Uganda Members of Parliament to seriously pray for the nation to enable it successfully and peacefully go through the 2011 Uganda general elections.

The coming Uganda elections are becoming a concern to the general public for fear of degenerating into bloodshed if poorly handled.

Alaso who is also the opposition Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) political party Secretary General appealed to Uganda MP’s to pray for other Uganda pressing problems like the biting famine in the Eastern Uganda sub- region of Teso, child sacrifice and burning of schools among others.

The Uganda Minister of Disaster Preparedness, Prof. Tarsis Kabwegyere advised Parliament to take up the issue seriously because, it helps to unite divided leaders when coming together for prayers.

Uganda which is predominantly a Christian country holds a national prayer day on 8^thOctober of every year.
