HEC EGIDE EIFFEL Scholarships: Launched in January 1999 by the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Ministère des Affaires Etrangères), the Eiffel Scholarship is designed to bolster international recruiting by French schools of higher education, at a time when competition to attract top foreign students is growing among developed countries.

HEC reserves the right to submit only those candidates it feels best qualify for the Eiffel Scholarship as the award is particularly competitive and prestigious.

Note that applications from students currently studying outside France will be given priority over those from students already studying in France.

Scholarship Application Eligibility Criteria:

The HEC MBA Program applies on behalf of admitted eligible students. In order to be eligible the candidate must be:

  • Be aged 30 years old or less in the selection year
  • Have a single nationality from a developing country deemed an ’emerging country’ by the French state department, especially those in Asia and Latin America, for example, currently under-represented among the student population in France.

Selection Criteria:

Candidates wishing to apply for the Eiffel Scholarship must write an essay, describing how the scholarship will help them achieve their long-term career goals.

They should explain what they aim to achieve from the MBA program and how they will implement this in their future career.

As it is offered by the French Government, candidates should address issues such as why they are studying in France.Personal Financial Statement:

Applicants must submit a detailed description of their financial circumstances as well as a cash-flow forecast for 16-month duration at HEC.

Amount of Award:

The Eiffel Scholarship provides participants with a monthly allowance of €1,031, and covers additional expenses including travel, health insurance and cultural activities.

Tuition fees are not covered by the scholarship.

Application Deadlines: End of November of each year.

French Embassy Scholarships Program: French Embassies around the world annually grant scholarships to students intend to study in French universities or Higher Education Institutions, at Master degree or PhD level.

Scholarship Duration:

The scholarship is granted for a given period matching the necessary time for getting of the degree.

For Master degree: the scholarship will be granted for a maximum duration of 10 months (1 year of Master degree). Some successful candidates will have to get into a two-year Master degree.

In this specific case, scholarship could be granted for two years.

For PhDs: the scholarship will be granted for a maximum duration of 3 years. However, at the end of each academic year, the recipient will have to justify the progress of his/her project and/or thesis in order to be able to renew his/her grant every year.

In case of studies break or ending, the scholarship will automatically be cancelled.

Scholarship Application:

The scholarship application file must include:

  • A filled in and signed scholarship application form;
  • An up-to-date résumé stating the entire academic curriculum;
  • A cover letter explaining motivations and interests in the planned project;
  • Copies of academic diploma;
  • University transcripts of the last two years of studies;

For Master level candidates:

  • Enrolment attestation copy and/or letters of the host university in France.

For PhDs:

  • An attestation signed by your tutor indicating his commitment to supervise your thesis;
  • A detailed description of the research project (2/3 pages).

Optional documents:

  • Cost-sharing commitment letter from the corresponding organisation;
  • Academic and/or professional recommendations;
  • Language proficiency certificates: French (TCF, DELF, DALF, academic degree,…) and/or English (TOEFL, TOEIC, etc.).

The new Ambassador of France to the United Republic of Tanzania H.E. Mr. Marcel Escure today presented his accreditation letter to the Secretary General of the East African Community Amb. Dr. Richard Sezibera as Special Representative of France to the Community.

Amb. Escure replaces Mr. Jacques Champagne de Labriolle whose tour of duty as France’s Ambassador to the United Republic of Tanzania ended late last year.

In a letter dated 21 November 2011, France’s Minister of Foreign and European Affairs, Mr. Alain Juppe states that H.E. Mr. Marcel Escure’s mission to the EAC will further strengthen the ties between France and the East African Community.

France wishes to support the integration process that your Community has started as well as the rapprochement initiated with the Southern African Development Community and the Common Market for Eastern and Southern Africa,” noted the French Foreign Minister.

The EAC Secretary General Amb. Sezibera hailed the cordial relations that exist between France and the EAC Partner States, and briefed the French envoy on the critical activities that will dominate the integration agenda in the next five years which include consolidation of the EAC Customs Union and establishing a single customs territory; implementation of the provisions of the Common Market Protocol and; conclusion of the Protocol for the Establishment of the East African Monetary Union.
