Erias Lukwago is the 18^th mayor of Kampala and the first lord mayor in transition that started way back in 1950s, Walakira Nyanzi writes. But Lukwago is only the fourth mayor to be directly elected by Kampala residents in a secret ballot. The following are other 17 distinguished citizens that have served as Mayors of Kampala.

7. Councilor Sarah M. Nkonge was the first woman acting mayor of Kampala (1998-9)

17. His worship Nasser Ntege Sebaggala 1998, the first directly elected mayor of Kampala and the first one to lose office as Kampala mayor because of a court conviction. He was replaced by his deputy Sarah Nkonge who served as acting mayor until June 1999 when His worship Sebaana Kizito took over as the second directly elected Mayor of Kampala.

In February 2002, Sebaana again stood as a mayoral candidate and was re-elected with a greater mandate for a full term as a mayor. Sebaana was replaced by Nasser Sebaggala who was also later replaced by Erias Lukwago.

Full Scholarships for Dundee Research LLM Program: Dundee University School of Law in Dundee, Scotland is inviting applications for two full scholarships for its research LLM program.

According to the law school, successful applicants will be law graduates who have obtained at least a good 2:1 honours degree or equivalent and can show commitment to pursuing postgraduate research.

The LL.M. can be taken on a full-time basis over 12 months or on a part-time basis over 24 months.

The program incorporates research skills courses, which are designed to assist in the completion of the 30-40,000 word thesis.

Research students may also audit taught LL.M. modules.

Dundee Law School also offers a number of taught LL.M. programs.

The scholarship application deadline is August 31.

Trust Africa scholarships: Loughborough University is delighted to announce full-fee scholarships for international full-time taught postgraduate students currently domiciled (permanently living) in Africa.

The scholarships cover 100% of the course fees for your chosen postgraduate taught course for one year (replacing any Departmental or Loughborough University scholarships or bursaries you may already have been awarded).

The scholarships are being funded through a combination of generous external funding and University funds.

Students will be expected to fund their travel and maintenance costs through other sources.

Application Process:

Students may only apply for the scholarship after an offer for a place at Loughborough University has been made.

Students who are in possession of an offer (conditional or unconditional) of a place on a postgraduate taught course can apply for the scholarship.
