This was revealed by the chairperson Public Service Commission Ralph Ochan while handling over 2016/2017 report to the speaker.

Ochan said that the capacity of the commission to detect all the fake qualification certificates is still a challenge though many have been identified and the owners handed to police for prosecution.

He noted that there are still government jobs deficit yet the number of qualified persons are many, citing that in the financial year 2016/17, 17444 applied for various government jobs but only 844 employed.

He complained about the increasing number of districts and municipalities without corresponding increase in the budget which undermines the commission’s capacity to coordinate the district service commissions.

Ochan also added that government jobs are to be applied online and this system will be launched on 14th December of this year to enable qualified youth for these jobs across the country to access it without delay.

The speaker of parliament, Rebecca Alitwala Kadaga promised that she will give the report to parliament for action especially supporting their Budget.
