Minister of State for Health, Sarah Opendi, has attacked District Health Officers (DHO) in the country over what she termed as laziness to indicate to the National Medical Stores (NMS) the required drugs in their hospitals so that facilities do not experience any drug stock outs.
She says that the NMS procures drugs basing on hospital work plans but that the district health officers most times do cut and paste of the drugs supplied without reviewing which drugs are mostly required in a certain hospital.
Opendi says that because of lazy DHOs, drugs which are not on the wish list of hospitals end up sent to hospitals causing stock out of some drugs.

Opendi also asked MPs to ensure that T.B funding is sufficient to avoid the current funding gap of 46 billion shillings to enable the procurement of T.B treatment.
She warned patients with T.B against thinking that they were bewitched but that they should instead seek urgent treatment.
