]]> The suffering of the African child which has lasted for centuries has been encouraged by the poor African norms, poverty, the industrial development and the high prevalence of HIV/AIDS according to the Burahya county parliamentarian Stephen Kagwera.

Officiating as chief guest at the official launch of the SOS children’s village in Butebe parish Kabarole over the weekend, Kagwera observed that most of the children on the streets are vulnerable and poor.

Kagwera who called for hard work among parents warned some parents who deny children their rights of education and life.

 

Mugisa Michael the former Kabarole district chair person revealed that 14% of the children in the district are vulnerable. He said that his government had initiated plans to reduce the above percentage which he appealed to the new government to implement.

William Damulira the SOS national director said that the program which was started 20 years ago and currently operates in 35 African countries focuses on improving the lives of vulnerable children.
