Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) President Col. Dr. Kiiza Besigye has said he is not interested in celebrating the 50 years of Uganda’s independence Uganda having been a part of a successful neo-colony in which the leaders, with very few exceptions, have served the interests of former African colonial masters.

“How can I celebrate the 50 years of Uganda’s existence when poverty, corruption, human rights abuse, diseases, murder and imprisonment without trial are the very things that took Museveni to the bush to fight the then government are still with us today?” he says.

Besigye says how can he celebrate when he lives in a “country” where rights of citizens are not respected, where the purchase of firearms and funding of the army (even when there is no active enemy being engaged) are more valued than investment in the health of the people?

Col. Besigye says that on October 9, 2012, he will join other members of activists for change (A4C) to protest injustices which he claims that president Museveni’s government has inflicted on the people.

The outgoing president of Forum for Democratic Change (FDC), Col. Kiiza Besigye has said that Uganda may have a regime change in 2012.

Addressing members of FDC in Kampala at City House building in Kampala Central division, Besigye encouraged all his supporters no matter of their cultural, religion, economic or education background to get ready to receive the regime change.

He says that he has a vision that the anticipated regime change will be peaceful so Ugandans should not tremble about it. Besigye says that President Museveni has noticed that he has failed to fight corrupt, nepotism, bad leadership, intimidation, harassment of opposition members among other forms of injustices so the president is likely to willingly quit power in 2012.

Besigye says that he knows when he foresees regime change the security operatives will haunt him but he is not scared.
