As the country awaits the reading for the national Budget for the financial year 2011/2012, there are sections of population who are raising key issues that should be the main focus of the national budget

Many women not as lucky to get through child birth

One of such groups is the HIV/AIDS activists who have called for the need to increase in the budget allocation to the health sector.

The Uganda director international community of women living with HIV/AIDS East Africa Lillian Mwoleko says, the health budget allocation should be increased from the current 9% to 15%. She urgues that such an increment will help improve service delivery in the sector especially in the fight against HIV/AIDS.

According to African union Maputo declaration of 2003, member countries agreed to committee at least 15% of their annual national Budget to the health sector.

But Mwoleko says Uganda’s national budget share to the health still remains at 9% with maternal and child health being the least funded.
